Chapter 2

Even though it was a hot summer, Si Yanzhi felt like he was in the middle of the North Pole.

"You did what?!". He flinched when he hearing his boss' harsh tone.

Ah geez, he thought, tonight's gonna be a long night.

9pm. XXX Highway. A black Maybach was parking right in front of an alleyway. The, heavily tinted glass prevented one from seeing inside the car.

The man in the back seat was on his computer, entering data not visible to anyone. The light from the gadget's screen illuminated his face: a firm jawline, phoenix eyes that seemed to see into the depths of one's soul, pale thin thin lips that looked frozen. His thin eyebrows furrowed as he went on typing, his hands comparable to that of a pianist.

The car door swung open and a figure joined him in the back. Lu Jinning's guard went up. He looked at the figure to find a 20 or 21 year old woman with black hair and blue highlights, a button nose, plump cherry blossom lips, a mole under her right eye and side bangs. She was panting heavily, her chest falling and rising, with her cleavage slightly revealed. He frowned.

"I'm so sorry for barging in like this, can I stay here for-", she did not continue her sentence and her eyes widened in surprise.

Si Yanzhi wanted to cry but had no tears. As of his earlier mistake wasn't enough, he actually let a woman get close to his boss. He really really didn't want to die. He hadn't yet tasted all the pleasures of the world.

Lu Jinning narrowed his eyes at the strange girl, scrutinizing her as one would a specimen. He wondered whether she was in trouble, but upon a further examination, made up his mind that she was one of those trying to be a phoenix. Almost as I planned, a group of things appeared outside the car, seemingly searching for something, or someone. Lu Jinning wanted to applaud their acting. It was too realistic. Unfortunately for them, he had seen all kinds of plots. What he really wanted to know was how she found his location.

Soon, they began to stalk towards his car. Usually, at this point, woman would try to get physically into contact with him, pretending to ask for help. He turned to her, ready to push her out of the car the moment she touches him.

Surprisingly, without even sparing him a glance, she squatted, leaning against the car door.

Idiot, i***t, i***t, Bai Qingqing chided herself. Why did she have to enter his car of all vehicles. What a great impression to leave on him after so long. She was too embarrassed to look at him.

The men knocked on the back seat window. Lu Jinning looked at the girl hugging her knees and motioned for his assistant to roll down the window half-way.

Upon seeing the person seated, the g**g's leader felt like he just shot himself in the foot. He should have listened to his lackeys when they suggested giving up. Now look, just searching for a girl and he ended up disturbing Chairman Lu. At that moment, he wanted to reverse time.

Lu Jinning blankly stared at the road she took. As for Si Yanzhi in the driver's seat, he was sure he wasn't going home alive, not after letting a crazy woman near his boss.

"Drive"

Bai Qingqing screamed into the pillow with the adrenaline of the hour that passed. With a face red from screaming, she was glad her roommate wasn't home. She would be working late in the studio. Finally alone in the room, Gu Yichen's glistening eyes were the only things visible in the dark room. His lips curled into an invisible smirk. So there was someone who dared to steal his things. He really wanted to see how much more brave this little kitten could be.

Lu Jinning excused himself for a breath of fresh air. In the back patio, he sat on a chair, trying to relax. As he gazed into the stars, he couldn't help but feel something, like something he-

His eyes automatically narrowed upon hearing the sound of footsteps in his direction. He saw a dark figure dashing by, and just a feet behind the person, a couple of men followed. The figure performed a flip and landed on the 7 foot wall. The moonlight illuminated a graceful figure clad in black from head to toe. The person looked behind and froze in place. His eye twitched. It was the girl he met a week before, the one who got into his car.

"F*ck, f*ck, f*ck", Qingqing cursed at herself. Why today of all days? Why did he have to go to the same club she did? She broke her gaze and hopped off the wall. The men chasing after her couldn't make the jump and went round a corner. Lu Jinning walked back to the private room wondering if it was a coincidence or another planned meeting. And if so, how.

The two of them left the scene, not noticing a sharp pair of eyes watching everything in the dark. Gu Yichen stepped out of his hiding place, the smile plastered on his face not at all matching the cold look in his eyes. It truly seemed like this kitten was getting braver by the minute. He was particularly interested in seeing what kind of trouble she would stir up.
