DEMEGRA
The court was in disarray, it seemed like there was more hatred for lucilda since the discovery. Killian had to quickly mobilize the guards to move lucilda out of the hall and to another place, now the main problem was where to keep her.
Even though they did know for sure that this was their king's mate, but due to the circumstances on ground, they were more than confused on the kind of reception she should be given.
Cause just a few minutes ago she was the most hated being in their kingdom, she was meant to be hanged and burned along with the rest of her kind as an atonement for their sins.
And now she's their king's mate, the future queen of this kingdom. The men all felt sorry for their king and wondered why the goddess was this cruel.
Things weren't supposed to be this way for him, the king had been through alot and finally he was blessed or rather cursed with a bloodsucker as a mate, It seemed like their king was in the Goddess's black book.
They all stood, none able to ask the most important question on ground now which was, where should they keep her.
Their Commander saw the confused looks on their faces and decided that although they all weren't happy with the choice of mate for their king nevertheless they couldn't do anything about it, they couldn't risk keeping her in the dungeons back for Damien's lycan to discover and rain hell on their heads.
The human part of the king might not want her but the beast in him craves her. It craves her touch, her love and every single thing about her.
So he decided she stay in one of the rooms in the lower quarters heavily guarded.
He led the way with all the other guards following and moved on to the other side of the castle. On their way people kept on staring, it seemed the word had gone round the kingdom now, everyone already knew who she was, this was bad, way bad.
He led her and the guards straight to an isolated part of the quarters which didn't have any other occupants. In doing so he wasn't only trying to isolate her but keep her safe cause he knew that some lycans might try to take matters into their own hands and seek out revenge on the princess's head.
He opened a door and pushed her in, and told 6 guards to stand watch. he gave them instructions to not let any living thing come near that door. No one was to see her. He told them he would make provisions for her feeding personally, he couldn't risk her being poisoned by aggrieved members of their pack.
Now it was time to find his friend.
He didn't need to search long before he found him in his study.
Damien looked forsaken!!
Killian had only seen his friend in this condition when he lost his mother and it wasn't a pleasant memory for either of them.
he sat on his chair with a faraway look in his eyes, Killian moved closer and called him out.
"Damien"
The king turned and faced his long time friend turned brother.
"she's my mate"
"I know Damien, I know"
"Hmmmm"
"What's going to happen now".
"nothing". Damien said moving around
"what do you mean by nothing".
"Exactly what nothing means, everything will go on as planned, she will still be executed along with the rest"
"you must be kidding me Damien, execution?, she's your mate". Killian was bewildered.
"yes, I know that , but that doesn't mean anything to me, I don't want her"
"you don't want her?, you don't have a choice!!". Killian was trying to make his friend see reasoning.
"I know I don't but I can't be with her Killian, we have to look for a way".
"Hmmm, I've never heard of someone rejecting the mate bond and living, it doesn't work that way, and you're a pure blood lycan, the last of your kind, the consequences would be more terrible on you Damien, I wouldn't want to find out what happens when you go against the goddess".
"But there has to be another way, why don't we check the library and ask the kingdom's historians".
"I'm going to see what I can do about that but I want you to get ready to accept your fate Damien".
"What fate do you speak of Killian, I can't be with her".
"I'm just saying the goddess doesn't make mistakes, there must be an explanation"
.
"but I can't be with her"
"would you defy your creator's choice Damien?".
He was quiet for some time for replying
"just forget about it and help me find a solution".
"Alright but just so you know I made a little adjustments to her living conditions".
"huh?. I mean I moved her from the dungeons to the lower quarters".
That was enough to generate a growl from Damien
"I'm sorry but I didn't know if you'd be okay with sharing rooms five minutes after you were planning the best method to torture her and I also didn't know how your beast would react to her being kept in that filthy dungeon and from his reaction right now, I'm glad I didn't do that, it'd be a shame if I lost my head so soon without having to witness your union". he teased.
Damien sighed with resignation
"I'm sorry Killian I don't know what came over me, you're right my beast is attached to her, it doesn't seem to listen to my reasoning, right now I'm having a very hard time keeping him in place so he won't take over and go after her. he seems to forget that she is one reason why we lost a good number of our kind. And the living arrangements is fine, I don't have any problems with it, left to me I would want her in the stables or with the animals out there but since I can't see the possibility of that happening, except I want my beast to loose control and go on a rampage due to it's anger, I think the lower quarters would be perfect for the meantime before we sort this mess out.
well I'm just going to go see if I can get any explanation concerning this from the librarians.
"well that's good, send in the historians for me, I'd like to see them as soon as possible, I don't think there is any space for delay in this case".
Damien sat on his seat and waited for the historians to arrive. Dear goddess this was going to be a difficult time for them.
meanwhile. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Lucilda couldn't believe her luck, how was she going to live like this, she was mated to a dog, haaa. . . . . . . . She couldn't stop the tears that started flowing from her eyes at the thought of her present condition. How did she get here, she thought the witches prophesized that everything was going to be okay if she came. How is this okay, she has been abducted and she was almost killed if not for him recognizing her on time as his mate.
But the way things were going she wasn't sure if she was going to last long with the mate card. That king didn't look like someone that would let something like his mate stop him from doing whatever he had planned for her especially after the terrible relationship both kingdoms have had.
And even if he wanted to accept her as his mate, lucilda would rather die than be with that man. He was the most terrible being in her eyes. she believed the fates must have made a big mistake in sending him to this world. And now they wanted to shackle her with him, that abomination, She could never imagine having to stay with him, she couldn't even stand him, and now if she thought of it, there was no how the lycans would ever let her go Scott free, they would keep her here for all eternity just to make sure nothing wrong happens to their king.
She knew that it was dangerous for a lycan to be away from his mate, it would weaken and destroy the lycan and as this was the king she was talking about, the effects of her leaving him would be ten times (10x) worse not only on himself but on his entire pack.
Damien had no heir and if anything were to happen now, it would bring upon unimaginable consequences on the pack, an all bloody war would break out.
The fight for the throne would ensue and they wouldn't be able to control it. Worse it might last years upon years and by the time it would end, the damage would be irreversible, and a lot of innocent lives would be lost.
That means she'd have to remain here, She bursted into tears again. There was no way she could stay here, she had a life back home, her parents would worry themselves to death. She knew her father would be planning a reprisal attack on the lycans at that very moment and that scared her.
The vampires were no match for the lycans and she knew that first hand, she couldn't sit and let her father get slaughtered by these beasts, she had to do something about it and fast. There was no way she could let things get that far, she had to try at least to leave this place, if she got away she could be atleast safe from them and also protect her father and her kingdom.
She remembered lucian her army's commander, she wondered where he was now. She hadn't seen him since the day he and the rest of the warriors were sentenced, but she was sure of one thing they were still alive. She didn't think the king was in the right state of mind to oversee an execution for now, so she knew that they were still alive, and she was also certain if that was the case then they'd be kept in the dungeons.
She had to find a way to get to them, so that together they'd escape back home to kripgin. She didn't have the heart to go back home alone, she'd be seen as a failure by her people, even though they might never say it to her face that didn't mean they would be scared to say it behind her back and if such talks went round, there was no way she'd ever gain her people's respect, they'd still have their prior opinion about her stuck in their heads all eternity and she didn't want that, no ruler wanted that. The most important thing for a ruler to have was trust and the respect of his or her subjects and right now she didn't have either of those from the majority of her people, imagine how she'd be viewed if she now went home alone.
The gossip would never end and right now she didn't have time for that.
