CHAPTER SIX Natkaal let me go and I tumbled into wet grass. I rolled a few times before sliding to a stop in front of a gnarled oak tree. Natkaal landed next to me. We were in a lush park. Trees everywhere. Branches devoid of leaves practically covered the night sky. The chilly autumn air blew against my skin as I realized we had safely left the spirit world. I groaned and rolled over, propping myself up against the base of the tree. The air filled with a slurry, constant whoosh of cars passing by somewhere close. Through the tree cover, tungsten streetlamps glowed slightly out of focus. Not too far away, a tangle of red and white caught my eye. A giant park pavilion in the Turkish style.
