Chapter-4

It's been two weeks since I agreed to marry Tarun. It's been two long weeks since i was embarrassed seeing his quoted tee. Its been two weeks since i got two new friends!!

It was that day, when Tarun's mom told that he is returning! It was five in the evening and i got a call from Maya! That's the first time she is calling since we spoke that day.

'Hey, Heera!! ' A strong female voice greeted.

' Maya! Tell me!! ' i chortled. I don't know, but i felt some good vibes with her!

' Aunty wants to meet you! Uh! I mean, Tarun's mom!!, Can i come to your place to gather you up?! ' she asked.

' Yeah, Sure. I was actually packing my things to go back home. Come over, I will wait for you! ' i said and hung up.

Within twenty minutes, a black ferrari Porsche was approaching within my sight. A sexy, oval faced, little taller than average height woman got down and strode towards me. I soon gotta recognize her, it was Maya!!

' Maya!! ' i cried out in joy and moved towards her, she leaned forward for a courtesy hug.

' Hey, girl!! So, how is it going? ' she asked as i leaped into the car.

' I am good! When did you come back?! ' i asked.

' This morning! I didn't go to work, just thought of meeting you but then aunty herself asked us to meet up with her. ' she said.

After that, we had our silent ride for the next fifteen minutes, soon the car had to stop in front of a heady, majestic, thatched bungalow!

' Come in!! ' Maya, invited me in and smiled at me.

The Villa had a huge; abnormally huge living room with black, princely, sumptuous sectional sofa with black cushions. As soon as we entered, Tarun's mom greeted and asked us to sit on the couch. She was elated by seeing us.

'How are you, Heera ?! ' she asked.

' I am great, Aunty! ' I answered.

She wrapped her arms around my shoulders, i could feel the happiness in her heart through her eyes and the way she saw me. I don't know what made her so much happy. May be because of her son's acceptance for the wedding. But i don't know how she will feel, if she finds about what we have planned!!

'I badly wanted to meet you since the day you both talked. Then, I thought it would be good if I met you after Maya came! ' she said and smiled.

' Akshay and Maya are Tarun's well wishers! They're my children too!!' she continued and Maya smiled at me.

'I know aunty, because i spoke to them, when i spoke to Tarun on that day. 'I said and grinned.

And after sometime, she took out a box that was laid on the other side of the couch; it was a neat purple satin box. She gave it in my hands, I received it with both of my hands. She then told me ' This is the dress that I have purchased for you, for the engagement!' she said.

I opened the box to see the dress, it was baby pink colored saree that had grand great works all over it. I liked it very much!

'Thank you very much aunty. The saree looks great!!' i exclaimed.

Then after a cup of tea, I and Maya took a leave!

'Shall we go out for dinner?!’ Maya asked after sometime .

' Okay! Sure!! ' I chuckled.

Soon, we reached a drive in restaurant; ordered our food and gobbled!

' Did you like the saree?! ' she asked.

'Of course, Maya! She is really sweet. All of you are sweet!! ' i said.

' Except Tarun! Right?! ' she caught me, right! This girl knows to read minds, i guess!

' You know right! About what we decided on that day!! ' I said with a little hesitation.

' Ok!! Let me make something clear now. Tarun purposely did that, just to avoid this wedding. He is actually a baby!! I don't have to tell you more things about him, you will get to know as days come spring.'

'Huh?! But Maya, Did you know what I felt on that day.?! I just wanted to punch his face, by seeing that and... ' i stopped, that's when the realization hit me, she is not your friend Heera, his friend. Damn! Stop complaining about him.

' And?! ' he asked, raising her eyebrows.

'Nothing! ' I frowned!

'You don't have to worry, this is between us, and I will never let Tarun know about this.' she said, smiling confidently!

'Thanks! ' I said and smiled.

' Don't be too conventional! ' she said and we finished our food.

While driving back home, Maya said something that blew me out of the water.

' But Heera, I and Akshay never thought that making Tarun accept this wedding would be so easy. I know him for a few years and according to me and Akshay, he is a baby! You know, he often does things out of fury and then sits out to regret. Even after that day, he came out to me and apologized because i chewed him up on that day! ' she completed. It was actually unbelievable to hear that he came up to Maya and apologized. After all, they're friends, and they do so! I consoled myself.

Maya continued talking, distracting me from my inner thoughts!

' when i saw you on that day, i don't know why, but i just felt that... ' she said.

' What?! ' I asked, and laughed gently.

' That both of you are made for each other! ' she said, pushing me to agape!

What? Everyone tells the same! Like Shriya on that day, told me that my evil plans won't be persistent and Maya today tells that I and Tarun are made for each other! What the f**k?! What's happening! After all, i don't have any feelings for him!

'I know, both of you don't have any feelings for eachother now! ' she said, again pushing me into the shock zone. She tells exactly, whatever that runs in my mind. But wait! Who's the Psychiatrist here?! I...???

' But yeah, Love happens just like that! You might fall in love! With Tarun!! Maybe after a few days!! ' she said.

' No one's gonna boycott the feeling! If it happens, let it!! But it won't happen. ' I said, being strong headed. Yes! He is just a nice looking, handsome man. CEO of the S & S group of companies! Nothing else! I've barely met him, like only once! That too, on a video call.

Soon, we reached my home.

' It was really good talking to you! 'Maya said.

' I felt great too! ' i said.

' Come, visit my home! ' i invited.

' May be, some other time eh! I have to go now. ' she said and bade a good bye.

She applied brakes after moving a little forward, turned out to see me while i saw her.

' Did i say you that, i believe in love after weddings?! ' she chuckled.

' Did I say you that, i believe in me! ' i said, laughing and raising a single brow.

' Let's see!! ' she challenged.

' Maya! You're insane!! ' i shouted back.

I entered my home with my bag and the box that Tarun's mom had gifted. I went into the living room, my parents were sitting there, i went up to them.

' Mom, Dad!! ' i outcried.

' Did you meet your mom-in-law?! ' my mom chortled and i gazed at her.

' OK, Ok. Soon to be mom-in-law! ' she then corrected herself.

' Yes! See this!! She wants me to wear this for the engagement! ' i said, and handed over the box to my mom.

They were happy that Tarun's mom was being so nice to me and that even Maya and I are growing closer.

I told them that i had already eaten and went into my room to change! Immediately, I took my mobile phone to call Shriya!

'What's up dude!? ' she answered immediately, picking up the call.

' Just came home, after meeting Tarun's mom. Had dinner with Maya! ' i said.

'So,What's the matter?'

'Nothing much! She gifted me a saree! For the engagement!! '

' Aha!! '

' Let's go out tomorrow! I have to shop for a few things!! '

' Okay, Sure! For now, i will hang up! He is calling! ' she said and i got it, that her boy friend was calling her on the other side.

We hung up. I sprang to my bed!

I suddenly started thinking about what Maya said. What if, i started liking him?! What if, i fall for him?! What if, everything happens like Maya said?! But Heera, are you nuts?! How will it happen?! How will you be able to fall for a man, whom you know just like, for a week's time?! Ok! Not now!! But what if something happens?! Arghh! Stop thinking all these things! Nothing will go out of my hands!! Soon, i dozed off!

Days strolled out faster. There was only a night left, for our engagement! The next day evening, I and Tarun will get engaged! Yeah, something like a commitment in front of family and friends. But between us, the allegiance is incompatible from the normal ones! We are getting committed to satisfy our parents; to stay independent; to stay free; to remain what we're!
