Chapter 026

1193 Words

Nymera’s POV The vision wouldn’t stop. Even after I tore my hands away from the crown, it stayed with me—etched behind my eyes like a scar. The laughter. The city burning. The wolves bowing. And me—standing at the center of it all, crowned in bone and fire. I staggered back, hitting the cavern wall. Kaelith caught me before I hit the ground. “What did you see?” he asked. I couldn’t speak. Because if I did, I’d have to admit the truth: Part of me hadn’t wanted to let go. Part of me had liked it. Back at the surface, Dain sat on the far edge of the plateau, his back to us. I could feel him through the bond—tense, guarded, furious. When Kaelith tried to speak to him, he didn’t answer. Graeven helped the others set camp at the ridge, but I saw the way they all looked at me now.
