Smoke didn’t lie.
It curled in the sky like a scream, rising high above the ridgeline as our war party charged across the frost-bound slope. Each gust of wind carried the scent of burning wood, charred fur, and something worse—magic.
Dark, Spiral-born magic.
My heart pounded, faster than the wolves galloping beside me.
Hollowfang was under attack.
And we were too far away.
“They couldn’t have known we were gone,” Kade said as he ran beside me.
“They didn’t need to know,” I snapped. “They waited.”
