Officer Shetland exits the teachers lounge, hugely disappointed. She wanted so much for Pauline’s call at lunch time to be the answer to their prayers. After her last class, Nina hurries over to the hallway where she knows Pauline’s locker is located. Pretending to look through her books, the policewoman lingers nearby with her coat over her arm. Finally, Pauline stops chatting to her locker neighbor, yanks on her jacket, and heads for the exit.
