Harper “Mummy.” My voice broke as I stared at myself in the mirror. I looked beautiful and some how that made it so much worse. How could I look so much the blushing bride when inside I was screaming. Frantic for freedom. “I’m here Harper.” My mother came up behind me and identical eyes studied each other in the full length mirror. “You have to know I didn’t want this for you.” She sounded so sad , so alone that I turned and buried my head into her shoulder. “I know mummy.” It was easy to fall back into my childish name for her.
