Chapter 8: Stuck on You

Jade chose to wear an elegant off-the-shoulder black cocktail dress. It hugged her figure perfectly, accentuating every graceful curve of her body. She paired it with black ankle-strap stilettos that made her look even taller and more sophisticated. She couldn't help but smile as she admired herself in the mirror. The woman staring back at her was elegant, confident, and refined—a far cry from the old Jade she used to be. After making sure her sleek low-bun hairstyle was flawless, she opened her jewelry box and carefully took out the pair of diamond earrings Primo had given her while he was still courting her. How could she ever forget that night? All of her former co-workers at the bar had envied her. The earrings she was wearing now were worth millions. Even if she spent her entire life working as a waitress, she would never earn enough to buy something that expensive. "Jade... I never imagined you'd make it this far," she whispered to herself. Her eyes then wandered to her perfectly manicured hands. She had just gotten a glossy nude gel manicure, and it matched her outfit beautifully. Even applying makeup had become second nature to her now. Back then, she was content with a light dusting of face powder and a swipe of lip tint. She hadn't even known how to style herself to look this elegant. Jade had naturally delicate features, so a simple touch of makeup was enough to enhance her beauty. She almost jumped when she suddenly felt someone's presence behind her. Through the mirror, she saw Primo staring at her with admiration shining brightly in his eyes. "So? What do you think, Primo?" Jade asked shyly, though she already knew she looked stunning. "Do I look presentable enough?" "Love..." Primo shook his head with a smile. "You are damn gorgeous. You're breathtaking, Jade. How about we skip the party? Stay here instead... and spoil me. Besides, what I had planned this morning never happened." Jade chuckled softly. She turned to face him and pretended to straighten his bow tie before wrapping her arms around his neck. "Why? Don't you want to see Audrey again?" she teased. Primo merely smirked. Jade searched his eyes, trying to determine whether attending his ex-girlfriend's birthday party truly meant nothing to him. But she couldn't read him at all. Revenge was the only reason she had stepped into the complicated world of the Villareal family. Whatever feelings Primo might still have for Audrey, she would simply have to ignore them. For now... She needed Primo's protection. Until she accomplished everything she had planned, she couldn't allow another woman to steal her husband's attention. Primo suddenly captured her lips in a quick kiss before letting out a soft laugh. "Are you jealous? I like that. Sometimes I want to know that you get jealous too." He gently caressed her cheek. "Love... even if Audrey stripped naked right in front of me, she wouldn't have any effect on me anymore. I'm stuck on you, Jade. I promise to love you for the rest of my life. No one is walking away from this marriage." Jade smiled. But her thoughts told a different story. Yes, Primo... neither of us is leaving this marriage until I've made Vince pay for everything he did to me. We won't separate until I get the revenge I deserve. And you'll be the one helping me achieve it. Let's see if Vince and Monica can still be happy once everything they have is taken away from them. "Hey," Primo said gently. "Are you really sure we should go to Audrey's party? We don't have to do this. If you're still thinking about what Vince said, just forget it. That's just the way he is. But I can honestly say my older brother's son is a good person." "He doesn't want me to be your wife," Jade replied as she picked up her silver clutch from the bedside table. "He doubts my reasons for marrying you." "Jade," Primo said firmly, "you're living with me in that mansion—not Vince. Don't worry about him. There's nothing he can do now that you're my wife. I don't care what my family thinks. They don't get to decide how I live my life." Jade found herself staring at him. There were moments when she wanted to believe that his love was genuine. But she knew she could never allow herself to fall in love with him. One Villareal had already destroyed her once. Vince. To Jade, her marriage to Primo had an expiration date. She had loved once. She had given her heart completely. And she had been shattered. That was enough. She would never love another Villareal. "Jade..." Primo spoke softly. "There are times when I can't read your thoughts. Like right now... you're looking at me like that." He took a deep breath. "Sometimes I wonder what's really on your mind... and in your heart." He gently held both of her hands. "If there was another man you once loved... I hope you'll learn to forget him. I know everything happened so fast between us, but you know how much I want you." He looked deeply into her eyes. "I'll give you everything you've ever wanted in life, Jade. My money... my power... everything I own is yours. And I'll gain even more if that's what it takes to make sure your heart belongs to me." Jade smiled teasingly. "Is it because my love was 'for sale,' Primo? Is that why you think all your wealth was enough to buy my heart?" She softly traced her fingers across his lips. But Primo gently pulled away. His gaze became serious. "I honestly don't know what kind of spell you cast on me. I used to be a certified womanizer. I didn't know how to love." A faint smile crossed his lips. "But everything changed the moment I met you. From that very night, I realized I couldn't bear the thought of another man owning your heart." He stepped closer to her. "If there was another man you loved before... forget him." His voice grew deeper. "From the moment you married me, there's only one man you're allowed to love." He paused before finishing, "Me." Jade swallowed hard. Her heart had become as hard as stone. As cold as ice. But what if Primo discovered that Vince was the man who had once been her entire world? The man who still haunted her thoughts and robbed her of every ounce of peace? "Primo..." she said quietly. "I've already erased the man I once loved from both my heart and my mind." She smiled faintly. "You're my husband now. You can expect me to remain faithful to you as we learn to live together as husband and wife." She gently straightened his tuxedo collar. "You've already bought my love... No one else owns me now... Only you."
