Chapter 14

I look at the guy and then I see our escape... I saw a rope in the guy's hand so we have to hurry. I nudge Ashley and she leaps onto my back. I take off running. Magic is behind me. I run to the door on the opposite side of the guy. I rear up carefully and hit the door as hard as I can. Something actually goes right for a change and the door falls down under my weight.

Magic is now beside me but I suddenly hear a familiar whinny. I see that behind me is Sunstruck. I gasp. Max! He is the other guy. With a horse chasing us they will be able to catch us. I gallop as fast as I can. I turn sharply to the left into the woods and hear something bang shut. Thankyou Magic! He closes the door and then runs after us. I know we have mere seconds to get away.

We are in the woods and I suddenly realize a path. I gallop down it and it ends soon after. I run to the right knowing that they saw us run in the woods and won't expect us to get out right away. I notice logs and Magic quickly kicks them so they are in the way. I hear hoofbeats. They are coming.

I gallop somewhere randomly and I feel Ashley adjust on my back. She leans down farther and whispers in my ear. "Please listen to me! You must go the other way!" I understand and go to the right. She pats my neck, "Good girl Dakota." I have been galloping for a while, probably 10 minutes when I see a sign that could quite possible save my life. '30 miles to Whisper Creek Stables.' Now you might be wondering how this is important but Whisper Creek is where I have been staying since I was a wild horse.

I throw my head in the air in victory. "Calm down girl." I continue on towards Whisper Creek. 30 miles is pretty far but I can get there in probably today and tomorrow. It is night time but we must keep going or else they will find us. The sky gets super dark all of a sudden and I hear thunder in the distance. Then the rain comes. Thankfully only as a sprinkle but I know it will get worse. We have been galloping on the side of the road for a while and I know that it is safe to slow down. Honestly I was so scared I didn't realize how tired I am. I slow to a canter.

"Ok Dakota, we can stay at a canter for a while," Ashley says. Magic nudges me. "What?" I ask him. "You should show her that you are Dakota." "Are you out of your mind?!" "Come on, please? She misses you." I think about it and then I slow to a trot and then a walk and then I halt. She kicks me, "Dakota we have to keep moving." I have to get her off my back so I can show her but I don't want to lay down and crush her leg.

I wait a minute and then squeeze my eyes shut. Should I picture me? I decide to do it. There's a crackling noise and then we fall down. "What the-Sasha?" I smile. "Hey Ashley." She looks at me. "Where is Dakota?" She gets up and I stop her. "I know where Dakota is." She looks at me. "Where?" I squeeze my eyes shut picturing 'Dakota.' The feeling and then the crackling comes.

"Dakota? How do you do that?" I whinny and turn back. "Sasha? How?" I laugh and explain to her that Max turned me into a horse shifter and Magic turns to Colton. She turns to Magic he closes his eyes and the crackling comes and suddenly there is Colton. Ashley is looking at me so confused. I laugh. "So we should probably continue our journey back home," I say. "Wait hold up," Ashley says. "What?" I ask. "If Max could turn you into a horse shifter then can you turn me into a horse shifter too?" I pause. "Yeah I could." "Oh my gosh please do it!" She says.

I sigh trying to remember how and then I remember. "Is this what you want?" I ask just making sure. "Of course." I squeeze my eyes picturing Ashley turning into a horse and then I touch her. She gasps. "What do these feelings mean?" "That means you will turn into a horse in a few days," Colton says. "Can I do it now," Ashley asks. "Yeah just picture you turning into a horse. And you will be the color of your hair." I say. She nods and then closed her eyes. There is a crackling sound and she gasps opening her eyes. "What's that crackling?" "Don't worry, it's just part of the process," Colton says. I nod and she closed her eyes. When it comes back she keeps her eyes closed.

Then suddenly a white horse-completely white, appears in her place. Her eyes widen when she looks down. "Oh. My. Gosh." She rears in the air and bucks. Magic and I lean against eachother. After Ashley has gotten used to it she turns back and says, "Lets turn into horses and go back and on the eat back you tell me your story Sasha and then Colton, ok?" I nod and we all change to horses.

When we are done I am about to start when Colton says, "We need a horse name for you. Sasha's is Dakota, mine is Mystical Magic and..." I jump in, "Princess." Colton pauses. "I like it. What about you Ashley?" "I love it," she says. We continue on our way at a walk. I start my story which takes about a half hour to tell and then Magic starts his.

He starts, "My parents were horse shifters so my brother and I were both horse shifters. But when you are born a horse shifter you can't control it until you are 11. Max and I were homeschooled until then for obvious reasons. But I ran away when I was 12 and a half. And I have been the leader of my herd for about 8 months. I got my name from herd. And my brother never really had a name until Sasha. I mean Dakota. Remember to always use their horse name when they are horses. Ok?" We nod. "Let's stop for the night. I'm exhausted." I say. They agree so we stop and go into the woods. I fall asleep almost instantly with the rain falling and me dreaming about our new horse shifter group and what we have experienced together.
