Michaela's POV "Everything... Everything's wrong", Wes whispers as his forehead leans against mine. I should move... should push away this chauvinistic jerk but... right now… he looks so broken, and there's a part... a large part of me that feels the need to help put him back together. "Have we got anything else on today?" I ask quietly, hoping to the goddess he says no. Wes nods whispering a reply that seems a mile long as my hand absently begins to draw small circles on his chest. "Today?" I whisper in shock. "Yup" Wes replies popping his P for emphasis but still not moving his forehead from mine. "Can we skip any of it?" I begrudgingly ask. Weston's eyes flutter open to give me a playful smirk, a hand moving from beside me to now wrap around my waist "We can skip it all Mish... if you wanna come to Black moon with me". "Uhhhh" I wince, Weston's hold tightening around me. "In other words no" he continues, "especially since you don't have your wolf to protect you from the blizzards up there". Weston moves away now, the sudden coolness making me wrap my arms around my knees. Wes enters his wardrobe as I ask, "Blizzards?". "Yup" Wes replies popping his P once again. "And you've been there how many times?" Wes comes out with a small playful grin, "enough that one more won't matter". He's thrown on another shirt, blue, the color of the ocean and one of our many memories springs to mind. Without thinking I begin "Remember that time we drove all the way to Kingley Beach? Well, not us obviously. What was his name Ryan? Reese?". "Ryley" Wes nods, coming back over to sit next to me. My body turns to his as I continue "Yeah Ryley! Oh my goddess, he was the best! What happened to him? Does he still work here?". The room falls silent as Wes' face falls. "Wes?" I ask, trying to figure out what I have said to make his face look like that. "Ryley... Ryley was also a warrior, Mish" Wes replies softly. "No" I immediately breathe before covering my face in my hands feeling like the most self-centered person to walk the face of the earth "Nooooo" I repeat in a groan. "His daughter still lives here though. And his mate. They are doing pretty well actually. She found her second chance mate a few years back, Rhiannon now has twin little siblings". A wash of relief falls over me as Wes continues on, telling me how well his daughter is doing in school, how happy Reece would have been for Georgia, his mate and her new found happiness. After he is finished though, my dad is the one who flashes through my mind. At my silence Wes guesses, "He still has a chance of finding her too... although it is made a little harder when you live out there like hermits". "Hermits?" I ask my blood running cold for a completely different reason now. "Hermits" I repeat in a scoff more to myself than him before heading for the door. "Training's next right? Well I'm going to go change" I say quickly, already half way through the door. "Mish" Wes calls, coming to hold the door ajar. "Its Michaela" I seethe as I again reminding him. "And I think it would be best if we kept this..." I pause not sure what to call it, so waving between us instead. "I think its wise" I begin again "to keep things professional and for you to keep your thoughts, hands and whatever else you have to offer to yourself. Us hermits like things better that way". I think the only reason I'm able to close the door is the look of utter shock on Weston's face. "Jerk" I breathe as I walk into my wardrobe, dumping the rest of the backpacks contents on the floor and quickly removing my dress and replacing it with some workout gear. I redo my hair, because my curls are apparently allergic to staying in one place too long. After pulling on my runners I yank open the door again, only to see Weston's room now deserted. "F*cking Jerk!" I yell before pulling open his door and going to look for him. Day f*cking one... and I already hate this. Weston's POV How the f*ck did that turn to sh*t so f*cking quickly?! Wellllll Ryker begins, and I can hear the goddess damn audacity in that one word. Shut up I snap. You were going well there for a while.... until you insulted her and... her father, you know the one she basically lives for? Has centered her whole life trajectory around? Why does the jerk have to have a good goddess damn point, I think to myself. I'm not just brave, strong, handsome and this packs top fighter, I'm also amazingly smart. Oh how lucky you are young alpha to have a wolf like me. Ryker replies in a sing song voice. Yeahhhhh I reply sarcastically I'm just so blessed. I'd also just like to add I think leaving her behind was also a bad move Ryker adds casually as he starts grooming himself. Dude! I groan before Ryker offers a simple smile before blocking me out but not before he adds I might just miss this next yelling part... you know sensitive ears and all. My confusion only lasts a moment before I can then hear and smell her too. Great.
