Wes's POV The frustration only builds as we again find another dead end. The rogue king apparently, being a master of hiding tracks, as the best among us cannot even find a definitive trail. "Fu*k" I breathe into the dampening air, day soon shifting into night. "Wes" Jiren softly calls beside me. "I know.... I know" I repeat on a breath, more to myself than him. Because relenting... giving up... it always seems wrong. "There's nothing more we can do" Jiren says, speaking the words I need to hear. "I know" I admit before turning to the wolves behind me, "Home" I say, the one word so deeply laced with defeat. The wolves offering me looks of silent agreement before we all turn back towards home. The only silver lining being that each step brings me closer, back to her awaiting arms.
