Chapter Five
Tim & Melanie
He was asleep on his blanket when he heard the electrics operating the garage door begin to raise it and heard her car pull inside.
With a start, knowing he should be waiting on all fours by the door that led from the garage to the kitchen when she returned, he crawled towards the door until his lead prevented any further progress.
The woman he had previously known as his wife, Melanie, had returned from the office and would be mightily displeased if she did not find him in the correct position to greet her.
“Good doggie,” she said, as she stepped through the door and closed it behind her before setting her briefcase on the floor and smiling down at him as he waited for the signal that would kick in yet another of his ingrained responses.
