The drive itself had been reassuring and the fact she had not seen one car on the road, from leaving the compound and grounds of her home into Stonehaven itself, lent her a feeling of security in respect of anybody finding the secret at the heart of the homestead and the land surrounding it that had once been a small feudal fortification.
