EMMALINE It’s been months since I got here. But somehow it feels much longer. The days blend into one another until I can’t tell where one ends and the next begins. I stopped counting a long time ago. The sun rises, the guards bring food, and Dante comes to visit. That’s all my life has become. An endless routine I can’t escape from. There was a time I used to dream of running away. Of breaking through the gates, of Lira coming to find me, of going back to Alexander. But the longer I stay here, the more those dreams start to fade. It’s like being trapped under water, you fight at first, but eventually, you grow tired, and you stop struggling. You just… let yourself sink. I’ve stopped trying to escape. Maybe this is what fate had planned for me all along. Maybe this is what I deserve.
