Gao Shan's POV

Today feels different, I can taste the death in the air and it worries me. Being the Alpha of my pack I have to shoulder most of the responsibility. Our small town has always been peaceful. Although, we are the strongest in China we are on good terms with most communities, human and supernatural alike. Most is because they fear us so they avoid our path. My dad ruled with an iron fist and when I turned 18 and took over most people were relieved. You see I'm openly gay so they assumed they finally have a weak Alpha. However, I have been training to take up this position since when I was in diapers. I help my first knife at the age of Six months and I killed my first rogue at the tender age of five. Killing is easy when it's necessary.

"Hi, Alpha we have a problem" my second in command Wei wushian speaks from the half opened door and I just assume he knocked because I never heard him and I'm definitely not in the mood to get riled up this early morning.

"Speak up" he looked nervous and my loud alpha voice startled him. Don't get me wrong, although he is small in size and looks to be nervous all the time he is perfect as my beta. We have been best friends since we were in diapers. He is the strongest warrior I know and that boy is smart. His size is his strength.

"Someone was killed in town near the school"

Now that got my attention. We rarely ever have unrest in our town but a murder near the school will cause panic among our people. I try to keep them safe.

"Any suspects?" I already feel impatient.

"Yes, but she is human"

I didn't expect that at all. "So let the police deal with it." I sighed feeling a bit relieved. This is human affairs I can't interfere.

"They can't" he looks me straight in the eyes with worry flooding them. Any other time I could not have appreciated him looking straight into my eyes like that.

"Why not" I look at him with raised eyebrows because what could a human be able to kill if not a fellow human.

"She killed one of us" Heat spread through my veins at the thought of one of my subordinates being murdered. I can accept natural death but when someone touches what is mine crosses the line. I grab my jacket and push past Wei wushian and head straight for the garage. The closer I get to town the more I feel my blood boil. It only gets worse when I enter into the town and I am met with a very calm atmosphere. The first thought is I have been pranked and for that he will die but my wolf is restless and my instincts tell me there is more to this calmness. So I venture deeper heading towards the school. I am met by a crowd of people all seeming to be very interested by whatever was in the middle of the circle they had created. They were all happy and I just knew something was wrong. It's not like I don't want them to be happy but the way they were smiling seemed programmed to me. Their laughter was loud and annoying but in there there was a sound that was soothing me. One of the laughter's seemed to stand out from the rest. It was neither soft nor hard yet it was beautiful. It seemed to rise and fall in intonation the more they laughed. Neither, was it too loud. It brushed through my ears and it felt as I someonewas caressing my earlobes. I take a moment to listen to it before I scan the crowd again. Most of them are people from my pack. I would have relaxed if it was just the school kids but even my warriors seemed to be in this deja vu moment. I scan the area and I spot my gamma Shan Shan seating on one of the platforms close to the school gate with a bored expression on her face. At least someone is sane around here. I park my car opposite the school and get out before making my way to Shan Shan.

"You finally showed up. People are going crazy because of that murderer." I raise my brow at her because I was not getting what she meant.

"I don't follow"

"That girl seems to have hypnotized everyone by the time I got here. She smells human alright but she has mad skills."

"Ooh, what kind of skills could be very interesting that people forget someone just got killed" I groan in frustration and move towards the crowd with Shan Shan on my tail. Immediately my pack members sense my presence they make way and bow as I move towards the center. I'm surprised to see Wei wushian squatting down next to a strange girl or boy I'm not very sure. When did he even get here. I stop at the center and that is when my world stops. The supposed stranger raises their head from the stack of cards they were looking at and she smiles. Yes, she is a girl and the most beautiful one I have ever seen. I know I am a gay man but she is just so pretty. The corners of her mouth twitch into a small smile revealing a stack of well arranged pearly teeth. She has very grey eyes they appear silvery when the sunlight bounces off them. She is dressed in an all black outfit that complements her dark skin that shines under the light. She looks like a goddess. My wolf Wang seems to be very active and happy today. I can feel him jump up and down in my brain and I doubt for a moment if he is an Alpha wolf. She turns her head upwards and the moment our eyes link with each other everything becomes still and all I can see is her. Wang growls "mate" then he instanly goes silent. That is weird I think to myself. The feeling of joy and delight one feels when they meet their mate that I was feeling a while ago is gone. All I now see is a human who murdered my pack mate. I am twenty six years old and I have yet to meet my mate. Everyone lives for that day but I gave up when I clocked twenty and he was nowhere to be found. I am yet to pick a Luna because nobody has ever been good enough. I'm gay so I expect the goddess to grant me a male mate. It is a common thing among the supernatural. It's only human who seem to have a problem with same s*x relationships. Why do they have to sexualize every aspect of their lives. Someone gay cannot be our leader, I cannot be friends with a gay person like seriously why do you doubt yourself so much.
