It took me far longer than I expected to get to Linden's cabin. Traps still with me complete with terrified animals inside. I feel a tug in my gut. Linden. I am right outside her cabin but I know she's in trouble. I can feel how scared and angry she is. I put down the traps gently telling them to be quiet.

I send my awareness through the wood of her house and see the two men from the forest with her. She's sitting on the bed sneering at the short one. Her hands are tied behind her back. She looks like she's helpless but I feel her power rising as she stares them down. She is remarkable I am so proud to have her as my mate. She shifts her gaze to where I am, she can sense me, and grins. It is a thing of beauty but it is not a nice smile.

"Well, Linden, I thought you were dead." The short one says. How does he know my mate?

"Well what can I say? I knew if I stayed with you and my mom any longer I would have been." She said her voice strong and clear.

"You broke our hearts when you left. You know? Your mom died because you left." He says with the sincerity of a crocodile. The thin man looks very confused but looks like he is still supporting his friend.

"Bullshit. You just miss your punching bag. I'm guessing mom died because you had no one else to beat on." She says her head raised in defiance. God, she is a thing to behold. Wait. Punching bag? He hit my mate? My anger rises as I withdraw my awareness from the house. I hear him laugh and I head to the door.

She will not be alone with these men.

I step through the door and see the blood drain from their faces.

"Hello lyubov moya. I see we have guests." I say staring them into submission.

My heart stands up gracefully her hands suddenly unbound and makes her way over to me.

"Welcome home my love. I came home and found my abusive stepfather and his poacher friend Greg in our home." She says wrapping her arms around my waist and pulling me down for a kiss. Our home. I hold her tight and kiss her letting her feel all my love for her. I feel movement in the cabin and before I can move I feel her flare of power.
