I am a quivering mess as I rise off his incredible body. He brings me back down and holds me making sure I am ok. Leshy is so sweet. Mate. That's what I called him. Like a soulmate? It feels right and now that magic is involved, and he is clearly not human I'm not ruling out soulmates. I look up at him still feeling the after effects of our lovemaking. His bright green eyes stare back full of love. I snuggle in to him more and he sighs contentedly. I smile. We stay like that for a little while. Until I hear a tapping on my window and realize I still have stuff to do. He probably does too but I hope he stays. I get up and put on my dress giving him a smile as I head to the river. We used the last of the stew already with Leshy staying with me. Not that I mind but I will have to make more food for tonight. I check my fish trap I set yesterday and find three lovely trout. I set to cleaning and deboning them I feel Leshy come up from behind me wrapping his arms around my waist. He kisses my shoulder and it warms me. "May I stay with you?" He asks. "I had hoped so. But I understand that you have things to do." I say with a smile. I swore a long time ago that if I ever had someone I loved that I would not lose myself to it. Not like my mom. I would be me, and he would be him, but we would also be together. "I do but I would also like to come back to you." He admits. "I would love that." I say as I reach up and kiss him showing him just how much. "What exactly do you do?" I ask. "I'm a forest spirit. I protect the plants and animals in my forest." He says. "My dad used to protect this forest too. He was a forest ranger." I say smiling sadly at the memory. "Good. I can use all the help I can get." He chuckles, but then he looks at me and his expression changes. "What do you mean 'used to'?" "He died a long time ago." I said simply. "I'm sorry. Its never easy losing someone you love." He says holding me tighter. J rest my head on his chest. "No it's not. But it gets a bit easier to deal with as time goes on." I say. He tilts my chin up to look him in the eyes. "You never have to lie to me. We're mates. You are entitled to your feelings. Whatever they are." He says stroking my cheek. His leaf green eyes are so full of emotion a tear drops down my cheek. He kisses me softly telling me it's ok. Making me stronger. Its nice having someone here with me. I never thought I would want someone like this after everything I've been through. "So magic..." I say as I make our dinner. "What should I know about it?" He chuckles. "Look at it as intention manifested. If you want something bad enough it will come into being" he says as he moves his hand above the earth. I watch as little sprouts pop up. Its getting dark now so I think about light. Nothing happens. I think about needing light to see. Nothing. "You're thinking too much. What happened the last few times you used magic?" He asks brows quicker a smile on his face. Then I remember the last time I felt it we were having s*x and I blush. The time before that though I was terrified that someone was going to hurt me or my new family. The feeling that I needed to save them and myself. The feeling. I try to feel the light I'm trying to make. Its warm and safe and I can see in my wild around me. I feel a pulse in my stomach warm and comforting. Then all of a sudden I can see. There are about a dozen little suns hanging above me and Leshy. He smiles at me. "I told you that you were powerful. Smart too." He says grinning. I blush again. I finish up the last of the meal for us as my crows swoop down on me waiting. Jay is chatting about hungry they are. Randall is starving and how dare I wait so long to feed them. "You know, you can find other food. You don't have to wait for me." I tell him. Bob takes his fish with a click of thanks. Randall and Jay are ignoring what I said but click a thanks anyway just in case. Leshy laughs. We eat together in comfortable silence. He kisses me a thanks as we clean up. As he goes to put away his plate and fork he stops and tilts his head to the side as if listening to something. "I have to go. Something is wrong." He says seriously. "Go. I'll be here when you get back." I promise. I kiss him as he runs into the forest melding in with the trees.
