Angela jumped over the tall steel gate, landing in the garden with a grunt. Her breath was short, and her heart was racing. The Smith mansion stood before her, quiet and still. She looked around the wide front yard and shook her head in confusion. “Where is everyone?” she whispered. There were no guards. No maids. Not even a single car parked outside. The gate was locked, but luckily she still remembered the spot in the garden she used to sneak through as a teenager. She ran to the back door, praying it was still broken like before.
