I stared at the picture and text for a while. Maybe it was just Shawn playing a stupid prank, but if it's not Shawn. That thought makes me feel queasy. I guess its time to stop ignoring the texts and get some answers, I decided to text the unknown person back.
Me- if you're not Shawn, then who are you?
Unknown – I’ve been around for a while, but you'll find out soon and we will live happily ever after. My love.
I need to get more information, so I guess I need to pry a bit.
Me - well, if you go ahead and tell me who you are, we can go ahead and live happily ever after.
Unknown - there are still certain people in your life that need to be removed permanently first.
Well, I’m freaked out now.
Me- who needs to be removed?
I sat there as the 3 dots waved up and down, waiting for a response. However, after a few minutes staring, it never came. I began reading through the previous text to see if I could get some clues as to who this could be. After a while, I gave up and decided to try to figure it out tomorrow, with a fresh pair of eyes. Maybe talk to Pal and Cat and see if they might know anyone. I also needed to talk to my agent just in case this is a crazy fan. My last book was doing really well at the moment, but I didn't see how I would have a crazy fan. There wasn't really anything special about me.
I finished getting ready for bed plugged in my phone and was about to lay down when I got another text with a picture of her and Kolton, the other day at the park in town the text is what shook her to her core.
Unknown - tell anyone about me, and he's the first to go.
Well, there went my sleep for the night.
I tossed and turned the whole night, finally decided to get up at 6am and get the day started. At about 730, my phone started to ping, indicating I had a text coming in, I hesitated for a moment before seeing it was from Liam.
Liam- I just wanted to check and see if you were going to meet me for coffee?
Me- I can't meet today maybe another time.
Liam - Sure.
I sighed, throwing on clothes for the day, a pair of blue jeans, skinny jeans and a plain white button-up tucked into the front, and a pair of black Chuck Taylor's, my favorite shoe. I looked in the mirror and sighed, trying to put the texts I received in the back of my mind once I was done with Cat for the day I will pick up where I left off last night.
Text from Cat.
"Meet me in the sunroom. That's where Pal got me set up for now.
Me - I'll be right there.
I glanced at the clock it read 7:55. Well it’s now or never, I decided to go ahead and make my way over to Cat.
"Good morning, I had Pal put some coffee and fruit out here for us. It's going to be a long morning." Cat said with a smile. Gesturing to the food.
"Well, I'm happy to get to work." I smiled back.
The morning drug on as they filled out paperwork, and Cat explained what exactly she needed me to do for her. They broke for lunch, I made grilled chicken salads for the 2 of us and a small pizza for Kolton. 3pm rolled around. We have been talking about the upcoming events the center was having soon.
"One last event, it's actually in 2 weeks we are doing a back to school double feature movie night. We are playing Cars 1&2, having movie snacks and passing out school supplies. Everything has been donated for the event all you have to do is set up the decorations, which I'll send you the pictures for, and go to Joyce's, you know the little store on the corner by the movie theater, she's donating all the food for the event. The decorations are in the empty office by mine at the center. Here are the keys to it. I feel like there is one last thing I need to tell you what is it. Hmmm. " She stared off for a second. " Oh yeah! Liam and a few of his Biker buddies will be there Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to help set up and tare down. A few of them need community service hours. And Pal normally has work they can do around here, but I told Liam I could help out some as well." She smiled at me as if she was doing me some type of favor.
I really don't want to deal with Liam right now, but I'll do it for the community.
The first week working with Cat flew by, it was mostly paperwork and making sure I knew how to run the operating systems that were used at the center and the system they used for paperwork online.
It's Friday morning since she didn't have to work today she decided it was going to be a good day to go riding.
"Good morning, family." She said, walking in the kitchen, adjusting her glove.
"Um Kar, did you forget about something?" Pal asked, pointing to Kolton, who was sitting at the bar eating his breakfast.
"No, I sure didn't you all don't have to leave till 11, it's only 9 I have to go grab a couple things for today and then I will be back with plenty of time. And Pal, I'm going to text you what he needs laid out." I said as I pointed at Kolton, he didn’t know we were spending the day together and didn’t know we were going to take the side by side out for the day.
Pal and Cat had a baby appointment, which meant they were going to be gone for the majority of the day. Kolton would be starting school in the fall, and I won’t be able to do days like this during the week. I don't really need to pick anything up, it had been a long week, and I haven’t gotten time to take my bike out and I know the next week was going to be a long one too. I made it back to the house by 10:30 with plenty of time to spare. Pal and Kolton were outside packing up the car with their hospital bags. Depending on how the appointment goes, they might be going straight to the hospital.
"Aunt K! You're back!" Kolton ran over to me once I k!lied the engine. "When can I get a ride?" He asked.
"That depends on your mother, Mr. Man." I slid my bike helmet on his head as I got off the bike.
"Look, Daddy! I'm a motorcycler!" He shouted, running towards his dad. Pal chuckled to himself, closing the trunk as Cat was coming out the front door.
"Well, I hope the 2 of you have a good time today and...." she stopped midsentence. I looked over to her and noticed there was a puddle of water at her feet. "Um, I think I just peed." She gave Pal a sad look.
"No, I think your water broke, Hunny." Pal replied, walking Cat back in the house. "Here’s what we are going to do Kar is going to call the doctor tell him your water broke. I'm going to grab the extra sundress you still have in the closet and help you change." Pal said, trying to stay as calm as possible. I made the call, and the receptionist told me he would meet them at the hospital instead of his office. Once Pal and Cat were changed, they left to make their way to the hospital.
Pal and I decided it would be best for me and Kolton to stay at the house. Once Cat was closer to delivering the baby we would head to the hospital.
Well, I need to change my plans for the day.
"Aunt K, what did daddy mean when he said Mama's water broke?" I looked up at the curious 5-year-old.
"Well, you know how Mama has baby sister in her belly?" He nodded. "Well, baby sister is ready to come out sooner than Mama, Daddy, or the doctor thought, and the water was what was keeping your baby sister inside." Trying to make it to where he would understand.
"Can we make sister and mama a card oh and one of those big welcome signs?" You could see the excitement in his eyes.
"We sure can. Why don't we go to the apartment, and we can get started? I think I have everything we need." 4 hours, 2 welcome banners, 3 cards, and a delivery later. Miss Adeline Sky was born. She looked like a perfect mix between Cat and Pal. Pal had called me to tell me to head that way when Cat was dilated to 9. We made it to the hospital before the baby was born. Kolton and I made a quick stop at the gift shop to grab flowers and a teddy bear before heading to the right floor. We spent the evening with Pal, Cat, and Adeline. They weren't telling the rest of the family she was born till tomorrow, giving them time just to be a family. We made our way home. We are going to have a sleepover in the apartment.
We spent Saturday and Sunday going over to the hospital as well. Monday morning, Pal, Cat, and Baby Addy surprised us with breakfast at home. They had been told they would be able to go home Monday morning on Sunday night.
I had forgotten about the text from unknown until Monday night when she got another one.
Unknown- I can't wait for you to be pregnant with my child.
When I read the text, I got a cold chill down my spine. I to figure out a way to tell someone about these texts without anyone getting hurt and fast.
