Cookout Pt2.

1027 Words
POV LIAM I finally made it to Pals cookout. Almost the whole town showed up here including the mayor. I expected the same old thing. Good music. Good conversation. Children playing, people laughing. And my personal favorite part great cooking! I found where Pal was and ran into Cat in the process. Looking forward to a good time with them. What I did not expect was to see something new, well someone new. I've been coming to the cookouts for the past 5 years and I know for a fact I've never seen the girl, no woman, that was standing in between Mayor John and Pal. Long brown hair pulled back into a couple braids. Beautifully sun-kissed skin, legs for days, a perfect a**, looks to be a few inches shorter than me. When Pal finally introduced us, Angel was all I wanted to call her once I saw her beautiful face, but after what happened next I don't think angel is appropriate more like siren, I couldn't help to think siren would be the perfect name as she was chewing this t**t who was apparently her ex husband. I mean that what sirens are they look all nice and sweet and then eat you alive. How dare he try to get my siren to come with him. Whole I need to pump my breaks she is not mine well at least not yet. "I think you need to leave" Pal said snapping me out of my thoughts. When Shawn started walking closer to her that's where all resolve broke, he wasn't touching her again not after what he did. I stepped inbetween them. After Miss Wilson spoke, he finally turned and walked toward where everyone was parked. "We aren't done K." He said before he was out of ear shot. I turned to look at Karyssa," are you alright siren?" I asked cupping her cheeks and wiping some tears from her face, that she finally let drop, with my thumbs. "No I need a few minutes." She whispered pulling from my hands and walking to where Pals security shed was. "Hunny" her mom started to say. "Not now mom." My siren cut her off. D*MN it I did it again. Oh well it's just a thought no one cares what I think about her. After about 10 minutes Cat was about to walk over to her. Before I jumped up grabbing her arm lightly. "Let me?" Giving her my best pleading look. "Be my guest." She said motioning to Karyssa. I grabbed 2 beers and was about to head that way when Pal stopped me grabbing one beer out of my hand replacing it with a bottle of apple juice. What the f*ck? I looked up at him questionly about to open my mouth, when he held up his hand stopping me. "She doesn't drink, but trust me she will want the juice. You'll have alot to learn about her, especially if you keep looking at her like that." He stated walking towards the rest of the crowd. I walked over to my siren, yes I've given in if I have anything to say about it she would be in my bed or on the back of my bike from now on. "Hey" I said getting her attention, she lifted her head up from her knees to look at me. I could get lost in those amber eyes, was all I could think about. Giving myself a mental shake getting back to the task at hand. "Is that apple juice?" Was the only thing that came out of her mouth. "Um.. yeah I was told to bring it to you instead of a beer." I said kind of questioning. "That makes sense since I don't drink." She stated as I reached out the juice towards her. "If it's not to personal may I ask why?" I will do anything or ask anything to get to hear more of her voice like the siren song it is. "OH, no one has ever asked me actually Shawn was the only one I have told and he used to make fun of me about it, but my grandfather was killed by a drunk driver and whenever I would try some type of alcohol I would get this horrible anxiety feeling like I'm letting people down 'what if they needed me' ,'what if someone gets hurt and no one is sober enough to take them to the hospital'. You know stuff that shouldn't be put on one's shoulders, but I work under the assumption that at least if I am sober, I can prevent someone else's family from getting that phone call. Please don't get me wrong if you want to drink I have no problem with it, I just feel better knowing for a fact that there is someone sober at the party or function." She ranted out. I was shocked. I'm not sure what exactly I expected her to say but that wasn't it. "What did you ever see in that a**hole?" I questioned mostly mumbling to myself. "It's the same old story boy falls for girl, girl then falls for boy, they fall in love and get married." She sighed. "My turn to ask a question. Siren?" Was all she asked. "Yup your new name as far as I'm concerned." Was all the answer I was giving her for now. "So, Siren, are you okay?" I quickly asked before she could try to pry anymore. "Yeah, I'm fine I didn't want anyone to know about what happened until I was ready to talk about it, but saying things just weren't going to work out apparently wasn't good enough for some people." She flatly stated wiping a stray tear from her cheek. "You want to come back to the cookout, maybe get some food with me and get to know each other a little more?" I asked her, extending my hand to help her up and fully expecting her to say no. I mean if it was me and all this emotional stuff was going on with me I would say no. "Sure, why not." She shocked me.
