I had just offered to take over Victor's search for a new assistant as I could tell that he had been adrift since firing Angie. To my surprise, he emphatically said no to my help and my eyes widened.
Victor soon decided to change his tone as he could tell this conversation was probably not going to turn out well if he hadn’t.
