Run

1024 Words
Suddenly, a whistle blew and I couldn't think it was like my legs were stuck. I urged my body to move, but the feel of grass, the smell of the air, the sound of a smelling babbling stream... A stream... the only stream I know of is in Belle's Looking Glass. Two towns over from my home. How could I only be two towns away? How could La Chambre Blanche be but two towns over and no one knows? Or maybe people do know. Perhaps the people of Belle's Looking Glass know precisely what's happening, but everyone stays quiet. Is that why the town has everything? Literally everything. People in other towns have to travel for hours just to get to a specialist, daycare services, or even a department store. I have to go; I have to move. I need to let everyone know what's really going on. Finally, I mustered enough courage to run, and so I did. I tried to change; I tried to transform, but I was too weak. Too weak to fully make myself into werewolf form, but not too weak to harness some of it into running. And I know those humans, the Nelson brothers, can not run as fast as me! So, that's what I did, I ran. Soon, I was out of Belle's Looking Glass, and in Meadow's Root, I hadn't been in this small town in years. It used to be the spot to go they had a wonderful place where people would perform. Comic acts, aspiring singers, dancers, magic acts, whatever one person wanted to do they did it. Every night, the place would be packed. What was the name of that place? Sunflower Room, that's right, it was always so bright in there the walls were painted bright yellow. But for some reason, it went under no matter that it was packed every day. Onward I went, there was no time to reminisce about the past. It was time to focus on getting to my mates, it was time for me to get as far away from here as possible. "Boys!" I heard that shrill sound come out of Irma Logue's mouth as I imagined she was holding a pitchfork or torch. She seems like the type of person that would incite a mob. "Don't let her get away!" How could she be so close? Cars. cars genius this isn't the 1700's there was a thing called cars. Faster, I have to go faster, I wasn't running at full capacity I was trying to preserve energy. I guess I'll just have to push myself. "You can run but you can't hide!" Gordon called out. It was faint but I could still hear it. I wondered just how far away they were. I was closer now, closer to my home, Shepard's Bay. This is funny because there is no bay, or really anybody, of water around. But I was just worried about getting past the line, if I could get past the line of my hometown, then maybe my mates could smell me. I inhaled the familiar scent of blueberry pie from Patsy's Restaurant, so I knew I was close. Although I've never been running in these woods, which I know is crazy, seeing as I'm a werewolf and I'm supposed to be running. I mean, I'm a wolf, I have to move a lot. We didn't run here, which is sad because I could have used my knowledge, or any knowledge, to get back home. "Whatever you do, boys, do not let her get past the Shepard's Bay welcome sign!" Irma cried out. They sounded closer than they were before. I wasn't going at full speed, though I knew I should. I just didn't want my body to tire out. I'm so close, so close. Just have to keep going, I can't run on empty now. "Juliet!" I heard someone scream out. It wasn't coming from behind me so it must be from someone who knows me! "Yes! Please help me!" I shouted as loud as I could muster. "Juliet!" It sounded like a woman now. Could it be Olivia? Oh, please let it be my best friend, I could use someone I knew and trusted. "It's me!" I strained my voice as I made it past the Shepard's Bay welcome sign and a few feet from Patsy's Restaurant. "Juliet!" At this point, I think it might be my imagination playing tricks on me. There's probably no one and I'm giving away my location, calling out to air. "Talia!" I stopped in my tracks as she rounded the building. "Freak, I've been wondering where you were, and so has everyone else," Talia remarked as she leaned her hand on the side of the house. "Talia, please! I was kidn*pped. I escaped, but they're after me. I need to leave!" I urged as I tried to move around her. "Where are you going to go?" Talia uttered as she hopped in front of me. "You can't go home, your father told everyone that you ran away with some boy," "He what?" I couldn't wrap my head around what she was saying all I could think about was getting to my mates. "No, Talia he sold me to La Chambre Blanche. Please help me get out of here!" "I figured it was something like that," Talia snarled as she put her hands on her hips. "But since you've been gone, the boys have been lonely. And I figure if you're gone long enough then they'll just forget about you. So, I'll be there for them, in every way." "Talia, are you truly this heartless?" I couldn't help but ask. All my life she has gotten everything she's wanted but it's never enough. "Only to you, especially since you stole Oliver from me!" Talia's face turned red as her eyes began to bulge. "I didn't steal him, he's my mate," I said as I tried to walk past her again. "You have four, that's unheard of, you truly are a freak," Talia spit out as stepped closer. "But I won't have to worry about you for long,"
