"Hello..." Came a voice from my dreams. "Hello..." I struggled to open my eyes as the voice was starting to annoy me. "Hello, hey... get up..." A strike to my lower abdomen had me doubled over in pain and I soon realized the voice hadn't come from my dreams but was here in the white room with me. "About time you woke up!" The large man grumbled as I blinked several times trying to adjust my eyes.
"You didn't have to kick her, I told you that you put too much of that in the vent. Ms. Irma told us to only put in a spoonful to keep her drowsy." The short bald man spoke up as he moved toward the door to look out of the peephole.
"You going soft on me, Glenn?" Gordon asked as he grabbed the folding chair he brought in.
"No, brother but she is very pretty I'd hate for you to bruise that porcelain skin." Glenn laughed as he unfolded the chair and sat backward. "Hey Pretty, my name is Glenn and this is my brother, Gordon, we are as I'm sure you're aware of Ms. Irma Logue, we are her assistants."
"What do you want?" I groaned as moved toward the corner of the bed leaning against the wall.
"You've got a mouth on you don't you," Gordon chuckled as he rubbed his hands on his stubble. "Why and what does Ms. Irma want with you? You aren't her normal client, she likes them a little more... unusual."
"Unusual?" I gripped my stomach as I raised up my legs. "I don't know why I'm here,"
"Yes, unusual is her go-to, two heads, six fingers, three legs, that sort of thing, but you don't look unusual," Glenn raised his light brunette eyebrow in my direction.
"Maybe, she's for us, Glenn, Ms. Irma did say we deserved something special for all our hard work. Especially since we brought her those freak of cousins," Gordon said with a creepy smile plastered on his lips as he looked over to his brother.
"Cousins?" I questioned in hopes of a distraction. Perhaps if they talked about something else it wouldn't be long before Claude would hopefully come to my rescue.
"Yeah, Glenn and I found these guys that well..." Gordon paused as he crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back in his chair. "Are some of the best specimens we've had in here."
"One of them, uh, Kacyn, has no nose, he was born with no nose and no toes. He has eight fingers on both of his hands and no eyebrows." Glenn smiled showing a broken front tooth and a scar just under his bottom lip. The other, oh s**t, what is his name, let me think, Maurice, yeah he was born with no lips and no ears. He too has eight fingers on his hands and his toes are so long they look like fingers, along with no fingernails. He can't grow them, we know they must have other family members like them it's only a matter of time before they tell us where they are."
"Thinking of it, didn't she say we would be getting something special only after they reveal where more of their family is..." Gordon spoke up as he scrunched his eyebrows together.
"Yeah, but they will so maybe she got her early and will give her up later, but she is a bit too pretty not to have now," Glenn hoarsely chuckled as he licked his dry chapped lips. "What do you say, brother, should we sample her?"
"No, please, I'm unclean," I yelled as I backed up into the corner of the room, no longer on my thin mattress but now on the cold floor.
"Unclean?" Gordon laughed as he rose from the chair followed by his brother. "Do we look clean to you?"
"What's going on here?" Claude protested as he swung open the door leading into my captive room.
"Nothing, absolutely nothing, sir," Glenn reacted as he and his brother backed away from me and moved toward the door. "Sorry, sir,"
"Are you bon, Cher?" Claude inquired as he handed me a blanket and helped me into a chair.
"Why were the Meeks brothers scared of you?" I asked as I looked at this old man from head to toe. Nothing seemed different or impressive about him.
"I am from south Louisiana," Claude answered as he sat in the chair next to me. "You know I dabble in voodoo and hoodoo," It was at that point I knew I had made a friend, I had at least one person I could count on being here. Now, all I had to do was convince him to help me escape, how long that would take was yet to be seen. I never thought something like this would happen to me. That my own father would sell me out, his only daughter to a woman who collects unusual people, I mean surely I can't be that unusual. "I'll be back with some food, Cher and I'll be telling Madam about what happened here too." I didn't know what else to say whether it was the shock of the Meeks brothers coming into my room and trying to assault me or the fact that I was still in this horrible place and it indeed was not a dream.
