Chapter 14
Ryan dove into the pool first, plunging into the deep end and kicking downwards, only surfacing near the middle of the big blue rectangle. Erik followed, diving toward him and then springing up right behind, gently poking a finger into his side.
Most of the rest of the team was already in the water, gathered in their respective lanes. Coach Ken stood by the side of the pool with his clipboard, looking up briefly and then back down again. He had a very serious look on his face.
Kyle, Zach, and Hunter were in one lane, and Owen, AJ and Darian in another. Erik and Ryan nabbed the center lane as the rest of the team trickled in, right up until 1:59.
