Chapter 99

1261 Words

Reina’s POV The Rangers drill had already tested my body and mind in every way possible. I thought I had faced the hardest part, but I was wrong again. The commandant called us back to the clearing after the last round. His sharp eyes scanned us one by one as though weighing our strength. “You did well,” he said, his voice steady. “Now you will complete the final part of this drill. Each cadet will be paired with a drill master. You will shadow them, learn directly, and prove yourself under their watch. The master assigned to you will remain with you until the end of the drill, which will last for three days.” Whispers moved quickly among the cadets. Everyone hoped for a fair master, someone who would push them but not break them. My hands felt damp. I prayed for anyone—anyone—but him.
