It was the king.
King Cassius arrived at the convent, unexpected, uncalled. Behind him was the new Mother General Elect, Mother Geraldine, both with stern faces.
“Where’s Julian?” He asked his first question, sending shivers down her spine. Reina’s jaw dropped, then her gaze swiftly shifted to Brianne, then to her dad and the mother behind him.
“I—“
“I can’t really tell. I don’t know.” She summoned the courage, speaking boldly. She curtsied to them.
“Why are you here, father?”
King Cassius smirked. “Is that even a question?” He looked back at Mother Geraldine who smirked as well. “She doesn’t know I’m here for serious business. You think me paying over a million dollars to take off your video from a porn sure and hack into the phones’ storage of all who downloaded it
