Chapter 4

1798 Words
Reina’s POV “Princess?” “Princess?” I still heard this while I was trying to wake up, I couldn’t tell how long this was but the memories of what happened flashed over my memory, pressing me down the more. This time, I slept off out of shock. It was cozy, cold and comfortable, what I slept on was so soft and comfy, I didn’t even want to know what it was, where it was, I never cared to open my eyes. The room was golden with the rays of the morning sun, the bed was king sized as I glared around. The vast space of the room extended to the sitting room. It’s unusual. I stood up to have a better view. Bedroom and living room can never be in the same space. I walked abruptly both in shock and curiosity. Booooommmm! The next second I was grabbing my forehead, shaking my head and panting in pain. “What the hell?” I’d just hit my head. “Princess, what’s going on?” Someone rushed in. Same name as last night I was passing out. Princess? What does it mean? Julian, my professor. He’d rushed in to grab me. I struggled, pushing him off. I turned back to the glass I’d hit my head thinking it was an open space. “I’m so sorry, your Highness. That is—“ “Your Highness?” I repeated, unable to comprehend the situation. Looking at myself, I was still in my nun gown including my veil. I returned back to the bed, sitting on it. I rubbed my eyes wondering if it was a dream. No! It’s real and my professor, the atheist, who hated me so badly was right in front of me kneeling. I sprang up unable to contain the situation. “What’s going on? Can you just tell me?” I demanded, eyes darkened. Once again, I turned around glaring at the room, straining my neck to look over at the window. The environment wasn’t familiar at all. “Your apartment?” He nodded. “Okay, what’s going on?” A brief moment of silence lurked as Julian looked for a way to turn his face away, his lips parted as though he wanted to say something. Then he turned, not sure if to say it. “I want to let you know who you are but that will be better if you find it out yourself.” He sprang to his feet, bracing himself and turned to leave the room when my wolf sensation aroused, adrenaline skyrocketing. I grabbed his wrist, he turned towards me, accidentally stepping foot on mine causing my knee to jerk backwards. His scent cascaded on me, his cool and cold aura, my body grew weak and I stumbled backward. His left hand slid behind my waist while his right grabbed my left hand. My brow knit with nervousness. I remembered I’m a werenun. I’d been professed. This posture isn’t right. Struggling to escape this tempting moment, I stumbled on the bed dragging him along until he fell on top of me, his lips on mine. My core clenched. The self-control I’d taken twenty years of my life to build, from my babyhood was about to fade away at the moment. Julian’s face stood still, his breaths heavier. I could feel it hard against my face. The sunny weather switched to a cool, darker atmosphere. The world seemed to lay low for the two of us. Memories flashed, like in my past life, an imagination of being with a love partner but now this seemed like an impossibility. He sprang up right away, acting nervous. With a curt bow, he apologized. “I’m sorry prin—“ “Sister.” I corrected it before he could say it. Eyes on me, he nodded. “Okay.” He reluctantly agreed. “What would you love to eat, prin—“ His words cut into half seeing my stern glare. “I shouldn’t be in this room with you, what happened to me last night?” “You were abducted by supposed hired gang members and were being taken to be violated but I was able to track you to save you.” Lowering my gaze but still fixed on him, thoughts and suspicions rallied inside of me. “Who are you and how did you get to track me? Are you hired?” His lips twisted to the corner of his lips, his eyes narrowed and looked away. It seems he doesn’t want to reveal this to me. After what seemed like an eternity of suspense, his attention returned to me. “I was hired to track you, when I find you, to protect you and take you back to where you belong. I found you as a nun and my mate, we will never be together. I’m only here to do my job.” “Whatever you want to know, you can only be patient till I take you to where you belong.” The shock this statement sent through my spines got me mute, there were a lot of questions but I couldn’t ask. The caring expression he portrayed on his stern face altogether with his cold yet respectful attitude, the accidental romantic moment, everything came up together sprinkling bliss and surrender on me. We spent the next few minutes gazing at each other in silence, our past lives, hopes, dreams, present and the future passing right in front of us. Julian turned around and walked away, leaving me in this sudden state. I watched him through the transparent glass I hit my head before walking back to me in the room with a perfectly folded white towel with golden lines, what seemed to be like a golden toothbrush. “You have to take this and I’ll show you the bathroom. Everything you might need is in there.” “Cold water?” I asked. “Why did you ask?” The expression on Julian’s face turned to confusion. “Because I feel a bit cold from last night but I can boil it myself.” “I’ll help you do that, you don’t have to.” Really? “I’ll make you breakfast afterwards.” I was just going to ask why he was getting so caring when yesterday he’d seen me as the one he hated most in the world? Julian didn’t give me the time as he went in to boil the water when I suddenly remembered. My body is allergic to hot water. “Hell no!” I hit my forehead. I’d forgotten but now there was nothing I could do. He’d already gone to boil it for me and if I refused, it would only seem like I’m taking him for granted. I’ll just stiffen up and bathe with it. I told myself. Who knows? Since it’s an act of charity from your mate, nothing might happen. I finished several minutes later, dried my hair and sat down to the breakfast he had prepared. Tea, sandwich and fried egg. I wanted to come eat with me but he’d prepared only one plate, I thought of having to deal with the drama my wolf would pull off. Even as he stood by the window, she was giggling, talking less of coming over to sit opposite me to eat from the same plate. Julian came to take the plates away after I was done but I grabbed his wrist. Silence. I cleared my throat. “Why are you doing all these? Why did you hate me before.” “I was sent to protect you, not to—“ “Not to?” I dared him, setting my face in amusement. “Love you.” He admitted with a frown and turned, walking away. When he returned back from the kitchen, he stood still by the window, looking through space. “Will you keep standing guard there silent, till when?” I uttered. “For as long as it takes to get everything prepared.” “I’m a nun and a student, what happens now?” This was something to worry about. “I stayed outside of the Convent last night and today I am too without reporting back. I don’t wanna be punished or expelled from the profession.” “No, you won’t.” He said with certainty, not turning. “Why do you say so?” “They already know you are with me. I’d video called Mother Catrolina last night and we talked for over an hour.” “Urghhh?” “How can I believe that?” Right away, he pulled out his phone from his sides, setting it on and scrolling through it while I peered through it. He went to his phone book. Records of last night's w******p call. One hour, twenty-six minutes. “What were you saying for that long.” “That I can’t tell you princess but the only I can is that your parents aren’t dead, you were gone missing right as a baby, the search for you hadn’t stopped until I found you were in the Convent, among the Nuns. Now I’ll take you to report back to them at the Royal Palace in Lucien Green Pack.” “Royal palace?” “Lucien Green, the seat of government of the Alpha king and Queen?” He nodded. For a minute, I thought he was joking, then I recalled, he’s the serious type even though I'd known him for just a day. I grabbed him, trying to turn him over to him, then cupping his face with tears in my eyes as I looked up to him. He turned his face away. “I don’t think this is very proper princess.” It was then his princess calling made more sense to me than before. I was still dazed in shock, staring at him while slowly releasing his face, my lips remained parted and my heart remained chaotic with feelings. “We will leave when everything is set today.” He said, adding to my curiosity. “You—“ “You—“ Gosh! I don’t even know what to say. “So you were the one assigned to take care of me, search for me I mean?” I stammered. “Yes.” “Who are you?” I got frank. “I’m your royal bodyguard.” His deep tone re-echoed in the room and through the walls of my ears, vibrating in my heart. Such a hot, sexy, atheist bodyguard as a nun? “What happens to my profession as a nun then, is it going to last?” I whispered to myself, afraid of my fate in the hands of Julian Maverick.
