The villagers who were gathering at the front yard of Uncle Simon's house scattered in fret as they heard someone shouting monsters. They were like millions of ants who sparse right after their anthill crumpled by a giant foot. They were like rats who didn't know where to dig a hole to squeeze themselves in because of the hungry merciless cats which were trying to devour them.
They were more terrified to see in a distance, the large numbers of monsters running towards them. Their eyes were glowing in red, their mouths were drooling in greed and yearn for their flesh, and their fingers with long and black sharp thick nails were already opened and ready to pricked onto their body.
The night was already with them, and they could only see the monsters through the shines of the half moon, the torches from around the houses and from the monster's glowing eyes.
Suddenly, the wind blew stronger. The stinky and bloody smell of the monsters filled the entire village. The villagers felt like they were suffocating and wanted to vomit. Not only that, the half moon was slowly covered with a round big and bloody dark moon which just appeared in the sky. Due to it, the entire vicinity turned red, no other color could be seen around aside from red. A completely blood-like hue.
Everybody screamed and cried out loud. Parents were lifting, hauling and hugging their kids with all their best to hide them but it was too late. The entire village was now surrounded by monsters.
The villagers knew they had no way to escape except fought against them until their last breath. They also knew that they were in total disadvantage because they were unprepared, they didn't have experience in fighting and especially they were not familiar with the monster's weakness. All in all, they were clueless of what to do and how to fight.
Tonight's disasters were the horrifying kind of war of survival between good and evil by humans against monsters. And tonight, monster's were in their intense rage, intent to kill and famine. They were too many, enough to wipe out a big town.
"Dear villagers, please calm down. Don't panic." Ethan shouted around. "Overcome your fear. We need to fight together." Even Ethan started to lose his faith that all of them could survive. "This is far beyond my expectation. Jesus, help us out!" Ethan whispered.
Jotun squeezed in his grandfather's side and bawled, "Grandpa, I am scared. Monsters are here! Monsters are here! They are going to eat us all."
Uncle Simon didn't run nor scream. He was calm like his usual self. He smiled at Jotun as he crouched in front of him and disarranged his hair. One of his hands also reached out his granddaughter's back and rubbed it, who was hiding her face in her mother's chest and trembling terribly in fear though no sounds were heard from her.
"Jotun, Nelly, and Daughter, don't be afraid. God is with us." Uncle Simon looked up at the sky and shouted in helplessness with eyes finally formed tears, "Tonight seems the end of our world. The evil and darkness is dominating and wiping all humankind. God, have mercy on us."
"Father!" The only word that came out from the mouth of Nelly's mother while helplessly squatting on the ground. She was silently crying while comforting her daughter inside her warm and protective hugs. Her eyes were staring at her father like he was her strength. Watching him made her fear nothing.
"Little Brother, run and hide." Logan's tired voice thundered around.
As Ethan searched his two brothers from the crowd, he found them running with the waves of monsters and endlessly fighting with them.
Logan and Brayden were like a thin paper yet also like a sharp string because they moved so fast and killed those monsters only by their hands. Even Ethan was unable to tell what they exactly were using to cut those monster's neck and stabbed their chest from their back straight to their heart. Those monsters who were unluckily trapped by the two brothers' strong sways and thrusts of their hands were automatically stumbled down with head cut down and chest bursts opened. But Ethan could tell how exhausted they were already. Their faces and body were covered with blood like they showered those unto themselves.
Ethan's eyes popped wide in fear and shock as his eyes travelled to their fellow villagers who were trying to escape with their families. His mouth was also broad open and his body froze. Though he was a skillful fighter and a martial art expert, under such unexpected numbers of fearless and evil uncommon enemies and unexpected circumstances, even God would feel fear.
Ethan's tears flooded quietly from his eyes as he watched the villagers assailed by monsters one by one mercilessly: kids, grown men and women, even old and pregnant individuals.
Some of them were bitten on their neck until it fell apart from their body but monsters didn't stop by just killing them. Their main objective was to eat their internal organs and hearts. Therefore, monsters swayed their hands and pricked their nails on their victims belly and chest then greedily and joyfully picked them with two hands from inside and swallowed them at once. Those organs were hanging between their fingers and mouth with a fresh blood dripping from it.
Some of the villagers were also caught standing and directly received a fatal stab in their belly or chest in which the arms of the monsters pierced through the victim's piteous body with their hands seized either the heart which was still beating or the victim's giblets. From the holes created by monsters in their bodies, small heads could enter and pass through.
Some villagers were also killed by monsters hopping on them on the ground and directly torn their flesh with their fangs like dogs or wolf fighting with others over a single bone and wallow their heads inside and pulled out the innards with their teeths.
Ethan covered his ears because the weep of pain and fear resounded in his head, making his head ache and his vision to spin. The sound of slitting flesh, breaking necks and sputtering bloods were like a torture to Ethan's soul and heart. He wasn't the one who was wounded or harmed but he felt more painful within himself. He was fighting over the pain of guilt and incapability because instead to fight, he just stood still and watched them die one by one. But no one could blame him. Despite being a fighter, this kind of war was also an eye-opener to him so to be astounded while facing this kind of calamity was quite a normal reaction.
Ethan's fighting spirit was only woken up when suddenly Brayden's voice roared again. "Little Brother, watch your back!"
Right as Ethan turned back, the monster was already extending its hand with fingers wide open to clutch Ethan's nape. Thanks to Brayden, the monsters failed to hurt Ethan when Brayden forcefully threw a big alive stone towards the monster's hand and got hit ineluctably.
The monster's howled in pain and anger.
"What are you doing? Where is your courage now? We told you to run and hide, you didn't listen yet you are standing here and waiting to die." Brayden said angrily yet with a hint of worry. "Find a safe place to hide."
Ethan twitched as the wheezing sound of a stone passed next to him. While Brayden's attention shifted to Ethan, he didn't notice that two drooling mad monsters were running towards him and ready to stab him from behind. Only by that moment, Ethan woke up from the tragic truth. He thought that instead of letting fear eat his bravery, why not fight them eye to eye, teeth to teeth and life to life.
Upon seeing the monster's, Ethan's pulled the whip in his side and swayed it over Brayden's back. Brayden squatted down as he saw the whip coming towards him but the two monsters behind him were caught off guard in which the blade attached at the tip of the whip hooked to their neck and slashed their throat one after another.
"Thank you Little Brother." Brayden said.
"No need to say thank you Brother Brayden." Ethan shouted back. He tossed the whip on Brayden. "Here Brother, take your weapon."
"Thanks." Brayden catched the whip and immediately swayed it tirelessly and ceaselessly towards the other monster's. Every monster who received his whip directly cut their neck. There were also some who just slashed from their belly and arms so they didn't die because it wasn't their fatal weak part.
"Bro Ethan, save me." Arthur's small voice from behind him was calling for Ethan's help, and as Ethan looked back at him, he saw a monster greedily feasting Arthur's belly with his neck almost torn apart.
"Jesus!" Ethan screamed. "Go to hell you piece of ugly nauseous junk." Ethan tossed his dagger above a little and seized it before throwing it away. The Dagger flew smoothly and aimed straight at the monster who was grinning dubiously in joy.
Ethan jumped far and high in extraordinary speed to chase his dagger. Upon seizing the handle of the shining dagger, Ethan did a back flipped hand s***h style with the dagger and cut the monster's throat.
"Ethan, help me. Help me." Penthelope's shaking voice echoed from the other corner. Without looking back, Ethan tossed his dagger to the direction of the voice. The dagger trailed off backward the monster and stuck to one of the hut's posts. Ethan ran over unnoticeably fast, pulled the dagger and cut the monster's head.
"You all shall die." Ethan yelled in agitation. "You all come to me together if you are really amazing. Don't bully the weak."
Ethan has no time to check all of the villagers after helping them to kill the monsters who were attacking them and he wasn't sure if they were still able to be saved. After a few calls of his name, the village filled with either whooped of joy from the monster but also the voices of villagers calling his name and help.
"Ethan! Watch out!" Penthelope's faint voice yelled.
