Karissa's Pov
I watch as the puny disgrace of a she-wolf defeats the pack's gamma in a sparring match.
Imbecile. I scoff, how can he call himself a Gamma and get defeated by that b***h. I grit my teeth and ball my fists as I watch a few of the warriors carry Tony off to the pack hospital.
To make matters worse, Savon is blinded by the stupid mate bond to see she isn't worthy of him.
Dumb mate bond. Selene couldn't have been in her right mind to make...her, Savon's fated mate.
Savon walks up to her with a stony expression, and just when I think he is going to order her to the dungeon or leave the pack, he kisses her.
He f*****g kisses her.
I can feel the heat coming from my ears. I grit my teeth and ball my hands into tight fists, causing my nails to dig into my skin and draw blood.
My blood is boiling like lava, watching them dance their tongues in each other mouth, but I can't seem to look away.
I want to. I need to. I can literally feel my heart breaking into small, sad pieces of itself. That's supposed to be me.
He's supposed to be kissing me. His hands are supposed to rub and feel on me, and he's supposed to be mated to me. Not her.
Not the she-wolf that invades our territory and is covered in tattoos, looking like walking trouble. Not to mention, she's a murderer!
No one is worried as to why she arrived in our territory on top of a dead lycan. They're all blind.
Blind and stupid.
"You're all disslmissed. We'll pick up where we left off tomorrow." Savon's voice rang throughout the training ground.
I quickly take off walking to the woods. I need a run to blow off some steam.
I look back in hopes of catching Savon's attention, and our eyes meet. My heart flutters as our eyes lock, and a small smile creeps onto my face.
Maybe I still have a chance? His face turns calloused, and his eyes go cold as he stares at me with disgust.
I gasp as sharp pain strikes through my chest and my heart once more. He turns back to Chloe and places his hand on her cheek, stroking it lovingly.
I turn on my heels with tears threatening to fall from my eyes. I sprint towards the forest and began to shift into my wolf, Elena.
My clothes start to shred into pieces while my bones snap, crackle and pop, with red fur sprouting out of my skin.
I race through the forest and weave between trees. The wind flows through my fur as I pick up the pace. I let out a sad howl as my paws thump on and off the dirt floor.
How could he do this to me? I've always been there for him, always. When he was down in the dumps after not finding his mate at eighteen, I was there. Not f*****g Chloe.
I have to do something. I have to make Savon realize this is wrong, that he is wrong about her and that the Moon Goddess made a mistake.
I run faster and deeper into the forest as my thoughts swirl around in my head, trying to come up with a solution.
'Where are you?'
Jaxxon's mindlink causes me to stop abruptly, making my paws dig into my ground.
"In the forest, I came for a run."
"Meet me outside the pack hospital, now."
He closes the link before I can ask why. Elena huffs and reluctantly shifts back, giving me control.
I grab a shirt and a pair of shorts hanging in a nearby tree. I head the packs hospital where I see Jaxxon standing outside and leaning against the building.
He spots me and starts walking towards me, only to pass me by.
"Follow." It's one word, but he says it in a growl, and I think I saw his eyes flicker to black before changing back to his original eye color.
I do as he says and turn to follow him, finally catching up.
"We've encountered a problem. A very serious problem."
"What kind of problem? Have you told the Alpha?"
"That's the problem. His mate. Of course, he doesn't see it, but her being here will bring trouble for us all."
I stop and look at him. Did he really just say that?
I want to smile, but I hold it back. I finally have someone on my side. Someone that sees that b***h Chloe for what she truly is.
Trouble.
"What would you like to do about it?"
"We need to find out more about her first. Something tells me she is hiding something, and I plan on finding out what it is."
Savon's POV
"You did great. You showed the pack you can handle yourself, they'll have no problem accepting you as their Luna."
I can't hold back that smile that is plastered on my face. I'm thankful the Moon Goddess bonded me to a beautiful badass.
"It's no big deal really and um about being the um Luna...I-I don't-"
I cut her off. I won't accept her not being my Luna, I don't care what doubts she has. She's perfect.
"I see you're not big on the idea of becoming Luna, but you are my fated mate chosen by the Moon Goddess herself. If you weren't meant to be Luna, you wouldn't have randomly landed in my territory, and the Moon Goddess wouldn't have paired us together. She makes no mistakes."
I grab her to face me and tilt her head up with my finger placed on her chin. Her eyes are searching mine for lies, but I hope she sees the sincerity.
"I'm not worthy of being your Luna, Savon. The sooner you realize it, it the better."
She grabs my hand, removes it from her chin, and walks off. I let out a whimper as I watched her walk to the packhouse.
I always get what I want. Whether it's the easy way or the hard way, the outcome will always be the same.
Chloe will be my Luna. She just doesn't know it yet.
