Chloe's (Shadow)POV
He is so beautiful.
My eyes are full of admiration as I listen to him talk about his childhood. I normally don't talk much, let alone open up to strangers, but Savon is... different.
I feel drawn to him. I feel at peace when being around him and hearing his voice is so soothing. His baritone voice sends chills throughout my body and a heat to my core.
Wait, what am I talking about!? Ugh, I barely know this man, and I'm ready to throw my panties at him. I'm sure he gets that alot though, I mean, look at him.
That devilish grin and deep dimples make me melt. His hazel green eyes are enchanting with specks of shimmery gold.
They compliment his flawless olive toned skin, alluring me to lick every single inch of him.
That same baritone voice brings me out of my dirty thoughts. "Forgive me for asking, but what happened to you after you ran away from the orphange?"
I close my eyes and look away. I knew the question was coming, but Im still not prepared to tell the truth, for his sake and mine.
"Um, a man named Ferro. He was a lone wolf living among the humans. He took pity on me when he saw me digging through the trash for food."
"He took me in and raised me as his daughter. He taught me everything. He's also the one who trained me to be a warrior."
"So that's how you were able to take down a lycan. It's quite impressive. He must've been a warrior before becoming a lone wolf?"
"He was the beta. He betrayed his alpha and had been on the run since. That's how he ended up in the human town."
The images of Ferro being taken down back at the Blood Moon Pack clouds my mind, and I stiffen. His face and howls of pain will forever live in my memory.
"Wow. Did he ever tell you which pack he was in?"
I hate the fact that I have to lie. Zephina is whimpering in my head, and I know she'll never forgive me if I cause her to lose her fated mate. I'd never forgive myself.
"No. He didn't discuss his past life with me, and I never pressed the issue." I add extra emphasis to the words never press the issue in hopes that he drops this very unnerving conversation.
My attempt is a success, as he switches to a different topic.
"What do you like to do for fun, besides kicking ass of course." He grins and lets out a low chuckle.
"Noisy much?" I respond jokingly to hide my uneasiness. I don't like talking about myself because I'm used to being invisible.
Standing out always got me into trouble, so I've learned blending in, and being unnoticed is the best way to go. It kept me alive living in the Blood Moon Pack.
He grins, but it's not a full one. He tilts his head to the side while his eyes roam my face.
It's like he's searching for something as he holds his intense gaze on me. There's an awkwardness starting to crept in the midst before he breaks the silence.
"I don't mean to pry, but as Alpha of this Pack, it's my duty to question you and your reasons for entering into my territory."
His gaze becomes too much for me, and I bow my head. He's right. He has all probable cause to question me, and here I am lying to him, putting him and his pack in danger.
I cringe at the hard yet true reality. Just being here is putting them in danger, and I do not want any more bloodshed on my behalf.
"You are quite a mystery, and your grand entrance has my interest piqued."
He puts his finger under my chin and lifts my head to meet his gaze. Our lips brush together, and his thumb caressing my cheek.
Those fiery tingles are brought back by his touch, and I can't help but lean into him. "I also would love it if my mate would allow me to get to know her."
My breath gets caught in my throat, and the ability to speak is lost. I'm lost in dazzling hazel green eyes and his beautifully sculpted face.
I manage to nod in response, earning me another one of those devilish grins exposing those to die for dimples of his.
Goddess help me. How could you bond me to such a hunk? I'm useless against him and those dimples. The worst part about it is that I think he knows it's.
"Great. How about I give you a tour and we can answer questions about each other along the way. How does that sound, my caramel truffle?"
"Carmel truffle?" I giggle at the pet name
"Your skin. It reminds me of caramel silky, smooth, and delicious. Your attitude, a dark and hard exterior yet still sweet. It's just like a truffle."
"You really know how to compliment a lady, don't you?"
I'm sure the b***h that introduced herself earlier, Kara...
Wait, that's not it.
Karly?
Claire?
Whatever her name is, I'm sure she won't be the only problem I run into. Mister pretty here has probably dipped in plenty of the she-wolves panties.
"All my compliments have been saved for you, only my love. Shall we?"
A blush creeps onto my cheeks as he leads me out of the packhouse and down the concrete pathway that leads to a tall black gate.
On both sides of the walkway is a garden full of bright pink carnations, pastel purple azaleas, and vibrant yellow tulips.
As we walk through the gate, the guards bow and greet Savon. "Good morning, Alpha." Saying it in unison, Savon nods and raises his hand, I guess, to dismiss them.
I'm not really up to date on the royal formalities. I didn't socialize much while in the Blood Moon Pack. Alpha Roman was never big on me attending meetings, balls, or any social event.
He said it was best I remained in the shadows since I was an assassin. My identity and appearance needed to be concealed.
We continue to walk, and Savon shows me the school and nursery for the pups. He explains that they have two other schools further away from the pack house.
One is for the teens, and the other is a university that accepts humans as well as werewolves, which has me astonished. I've never heard of or even been to a well structured pack.
Seeing this made me realize Alpha Roman is careless and more concerned with his role of being the Don rather than being Alpha.
He shows me the training grounds, and I am once again in awe at the sight. It's behind the packhouse, and it is massive.
It's a large field that is fenced in and filled with all kinds of weapons, training equipment, and obstacle courses.
When we enter the training grounds, there's a group sparring and the other running through the obstacle courses. I realize that at least half of the pack is at training.
In Blood Moon Pack, only soldiers, warriors, and upper rank wolves were allowed to train. Roman didn't want anyone getting ideas of challenging him.
"Does everyone in your pack train?" My eyes still scanning the various age groups present in the current training group. "
"Yep. All ages are required to train three times a week, except my warriors. They train every other day. Even the pups train. It's not as advanced, but they're taught the basics."
"Wow, it's great that you offer it to everyone. I didn't know you could do that, I just assumed warriors were the only ones allowed to train." I watch two people spar on a mat in the corner.
One is a male who looks to be in his early thirties, and the other is a young looking she-wolf that could be in her twenties.
I watch her move gracefully and precisely. Throwing punches as soon as the man lets his guard down, then swooping down to kick him and knock him off balance.
He falls to the floor on his back, and she jumps on top of him, securing his arms with her knees, using her body weight to restrict any movement from his upper body.
"Self-defense is the key to protection. Everyone owes it to themselves to protect and defend themselves as well as the pack."
"Amazing." I'm slowly falling in love with this Pack and the way Savon is running things, but it also fills me with guilt.
These are good people whose lives will be turned upside down if I continue to stay and keep lying about who I am. Maybe Karina.. no, that's not it either.
Kenya
Kayla
Klarissa!! That's her name.
Maybe she's right. Maybe the Goddess made a mistake bonding Savon to a liar like me. He deserves better.
