Get in, get out. It's simple. This job isn't ideal but it's keeping me in the Alpha's good graces. Plus it gets me out of house. Girls my age are normally worried about boys and the latest fashion trend.
Not me, I'm here on the roof top of a building exactly fifteen feet away from an extravagant hotel. On the twelfth floor and the seventh window to the right going across is a room occupied by a middle aged man trying to get his c**k wet.
Sigh. Poor man doesn't even know what's coming. 'You know you shouldn't be doing this, this isn't right.' my wolf Zephina surfaces but I block her out. We go through this every time we do a job. She knows we have to do this, our life depends on it. I got my wolf when I turned 16 which is odd because most don't get their wolf until they're 18 unless you're an Alpha.
Ferro witnessed my first shift and said it wasnt safe for me if Alpha Roman found out I had gotten my wolf. He said it could be dangerous for me which is another reason he taught me to fight. Once I turn eighteen though I'm ditching this hellhole and getting as far away as I can. Until then my fate is sealed as hitman.
The man comes into view as he exits the bathroom and goes to stand at the end of the bed where his playmate for the night awaits him. Here's my chance, a nice clean shot. With one tug of the trigger and my untraceable bullet entered through the right side of his skull and out the left leaving his limp body falling on the hysterical and scared sh*tless young lady wearing nothing but red lingerie. She was screaming to the top of her lungs with fear and confusion closing in on her.
The thought of the 'marks' wife came to mind. I shook my head and muttered to myself, "What a terrible way to find your dead husband." I make my way inside the building and go out the back disposing of the gun and walking to my car that is parked four blocks over. I pull out my phone and text Ferro 'done'. I slide the phone back into my pocket while I get into my car and drive off.
"We can't keep living like this Shadow. We have to do something, we have to get out.. the Moon Goddess is not pleased with us because of our actions-" I cut her off as I snapped at her " F**k the Moon Goddess! she's had a front row seat to watch all the bu*****t I've been through and not once has she helped me!?"
I'm pissed that she can't see Im not doing this because I like it or because I want to. She knows I have to do this she knows right now I belong to that devil that rules the city. I hear her whimper in my head and I immediately regret my harsh words. She was right we needed to go.
"Look Zeph, I promise you once my birthday comes we are out of here. Nomore killing nomore Roman just peace and freedom. Can you bare with me until then? Please." She scoffs at me, "Fine." I feel her go to the back of mind and I'm relieved that she doesn't continue to argue. What did I do to get stuck with such a stubborn wolf? "Hey, still here just in case you forgot sis!" I giggle at my wolf's attempt to be defensive.
Lost in thought I arrived at the pack house gates before I realized it. After the guards let me through I drove around back and parked the car. The pack house has Roman's men going in and out at all times. As I got out the car I caught a glimpse of my favorite person heading my way.
Ferro walks up to me and gives me a peck on my forehead and then wraps his arm around my neck as we make our way back towards the packhouse."Your birthday is coming up anything you want to do principessa? He's been calling me that since I met him, he told me it means princess in Italian.
Ferro is tall and slim but is also bulky with short dark brown hair, deep brown eyes and a smile that could break a million hearts. Ferro is a very attractive man and I could listen to him talk all day with that thick Italian accent of his. I suddenly remembered he asked about my birthday plans and I shook my head no for an answer.
I don't have friends and kids my age think I'm a freak so I stay to myself. Sadness washed Ferros face but he then lit up like he remembered something. "I got you something, I think you'll like it. It's on your bed, go check it out and let know what you think. I'll be in the Alpha's office for a meeting, which shouldn't take long,, and then I'll meet you in the armor room to train."
I smiled and rushed off to the baasement in haste and anticipation. Yes, my room is the basement. Alpha Roman didn't like running into me for whatever he reasons are but I didn't mind it. I liked being secluded and avoiding run-ins with Alpha Roman was a plus.
Ferro is the only one that acknowledges my birthday. He has bought me a gift for every birthday and Christmas since Roman captured me. Meeting Ferro is the only good thing I got out of being here, and I'm really going to miss him when I leave.
When I opened the creaky and half rotted door to my room, I go to the old worn out cot i used for a bed and on it was a beautifully crafted pendant of a wolf's head that is made of silver with violet shade eyes. The chain that's attached to was engraved with eccentric designs up and down the chain.
It was breathtaking and I loved it. I put it around my neck and looked at myself in the cracked mirror. I can't hold back the smile that comes to my face. Im so grateful for Ferro, my only friend. My moment of happiness was short lived when I was mindlinked by Roman "Shadow my office now." He sure knows how to f**k up my mood.
FERRO'S POV
I watched Shadow enter the house with a smile on my face. I really do hope she likes her birthday gift.
It was special to me, my mother had given me the pendant to give to my fated but that never happened. I started walking towards the other end of the pack house to reach the Alpha's office.
Roman has been acting really weird towards Shadow. I don't know what he has up his sleeve but me and my wolf Zaine don't like it one bit.
We've grown overly protective of Shawdow in these past years. I enter through the pack house doors and make my way upstairs taking two steps at a time.
As I reach the top of the staircase I walk up to the office door quietly and knock twice.
"Enter" is all I hear and I opened the door.
"Good morning Alpha, may I?" my hands pointing to one of the chairs in front of his large wooden oak desk.
"Go ahead, the job for Shadow, is it done? We're running low on time and my patience is getting thin with these nosey a** politicans." His face is hardened are his jaw is clenched.
"She got the job done just as you asked, clean and no witnesses. Shes good at what she does honestly and has a lot of potiental. The cope have no leads and no suspects so the case will be closed soon sir."
"hmm," He sits there silent with his index finger tapping his bottom, his eyes never leaving mine and his gaze is extremely intense.
Im curious as to whats going on in his head, I muster up the courage to ask, "Whats on your mind? You look like you got wheels turning in head whats up?"
He said nothing just looked at me. My gut started stirring and my palms began to sweat. No one makes Ferro nervous, but I know Roman is a cold blooded killer, worse than me.
I kill to protect, Roman and his cousin Khan kill for enjoyment. They were some sick and twisted bastards.
"You've grown quite fond of our little assassin huh? I mean I cant blame you, she blossomed into a real woman eh?" his voice got husky and was laced with lust.
"umm my apologizes Alpha but I dont look at Shadow in that way." My wolf Zaine started to stir, he didnt like where this was going and neither did I.
"Hmm I see it and I want her. She turns 18 in a few days, the day of her birthday shell be brought to me and im going to mate her."
His words had me seeing red. Zaine started fighting me for control and it took everything in me to not let him loose but I needed to warn my principessa.
Im her protector and I know Roman, he doesnt care about the mate bond. He killed his fated mate and I be damned if I let him harm Shadow anymore than he has already.
Alpha or not.
"Why not just keep her as an assassin, shes of better use to us that way."
I try to reason with him one last time but i could see in his eyes his mind was already made up.
