It took a few attempts to reach Selena's mother.
This was highly inappropriate, going behind a patient’s trust for answers, especially with a family member and not to mention committing career suicide. Nonetheless, I felt I had no choice. After just two sessions I was experiencing something unique here. Something I couldn’t put a finger on. I felt compelled to go beyond my practice to seek answers. I was strangely drawn to it.
Evelyn was a polite and lighthearted woman once we finally spoke by phone. My intention was not to discuss specifics. I wanted to get a feel for the relationship and see if anything would come up that could provide some context around what I saw in Selena.
