Freedom at last

After the long week she’d had she was more than ready to get out of that room and outdoors. Being a wolf meant that she couldn’t be cooped up for long or she and Kira would get restless.

It took almost an hour of pleading with her eyes and a thousand promises along with the one that she take mason with her before she was allowed to go. Ryder still had Business to take care of. But he still wasn’t comfortable letting her out on her own just yet so this was the only way she’d be able to go out.

She towed mason behind her and then walked behind a tree eagerly undressing and shifting into her wolf. Kira was very energetic after being inside for so long. We ran around the woods with mason chasing us and even starting a game of tag for hours.

When it got closer to lunch we went hunting and I caught a rabbit. Mason got a buck and rubbed it in my face that he got the better kill but I rolled my eyes. I ate the rabbit pretty quick and mason not wanting to waste any meat since he couldn’t possibly eat the entire deer took pity and shared with me. I licked his muzzle in thanks before tearing into the deer as well.

Eventually we just sun bathed and relaxed letting the woods around us calm our every instinct. It was nice to just enjoy the sounds of the forest every once in awhile. After awhile though Ryder linked us and said it was time to go home now it’s almost dinner time and he wants to spend time with his mate.

We both rolled our eyes but ran back to where we stashed our clothes and put them on before heading back to the house. They met a pacing Ryder at the front door he pulled Sofia to him and inhaled her sent effectively calming him. His wolf was a little restless having not seen her since this morning.

“You okay baby?” He asked making sure I was unharmed in any way. I nodded he was just too protective sometimes. I knew his wolf was driving him nuts and wouldn’t calm down till he checked on me but still.

He thanked mason for keeping an eye on me like I was two or something. “Im more than happy to hang out with the Luna any day. Plus being my best friend makes her a badass anyways.” He replied with a smirk before bumping his shoulder against mine. Ryder just nodded with a smile.

“Come on my feisty little mate.” He said leading us to the house to get some food. “And mason you are welcome to sit with us you belong up there anyways as the beta and the Luna’s guard instead of sitting by yourself.”

It was true that he didn’t have any family he never had siblings and his parents passed a few years ago. They were loved by everyone in the pack so it was a dark time for us. “I’d love to alpha”

I smiled it would be fun to have mason sitting with us. Not that the others weren’t great but as he said he’s my best friend. After we head inside we sit down to eat the pack members have been told about my accident with my voice but still talk to me and joke around.

We all ended up laughing after I stole masons breadstick and he tried to snatch it back but I ran around the room eating it until only the end was left before handing it to mason who’s mouth was hanging open. Everyone was laughing at the look of shock he had and our childish behavior. In the end I gave him mine and we finished eating.

I was glad me and Mason were so close. he was like family to me. a brother. thinking about that made me miss my own brother but I brushed that thought away to dwell on in another time. for right now I'm just happy to be surrounded by my new family and my pack.

Me and Ryder headed up to bed shortly after and honestly today has been the best day ever I finally got out of the house and spent time with my pack members. Nothing is better than that. I hope tomorrow goes as well as today had. I slowly drift off with a smile on my face and the sound of my mates heartbeat in his chest my lullaby. his woodsy scent calming my breathing until I faded into oblivion.
