Chapter 5
Ava's POV
My heart kept beating as I moved my feet every time, every door took me somewhere different, ice cold, hot, filled with knives, the gun stack, lonely lobby. Everywhere was connected to somewhere.
My stomach grumbled reminding me I've not tasted food for a day, my lip has become pale, my whole skin is dry, they probably won't get me the things in my luggage, I shouldn't bother.
Being scared won't solve it, walking around won't solve it either, I turned immediately and ran, with every strength I had left, before I forgot what door led to what brought me here.
And soon I was outside, I fell on the ground trying to catch my breath, it was still day or rather the tons of light deceiving me, no one was outside, it was calm, had a really nice view.
Dry trees, tall lights, some trees had little leaves like they found it had to produce leaves.
I sat on the ground admiring one beautiful thing I can see in the s**t hole I've been brought to.
I suddenly heard footsteps behind me, getting closer every second, not strong like the calculated steps I've heard here, it was quiet and watching the floor like they'd eat them up, I turned immediately and an old woman came to view.
Did they kidnap an old woman too? My eyes widened as I stared at the apron stained with kimchi she was wearing.
"Aigoo, what are you doing outside la" she asked coming closer to pick the dirt off my hair, I scoffed standing up.
"Can't sleep? Or you're missing home, why your lip look so pale, you not drink water la?" Nice dialect I chuckled shaking my head at her question.
"Aigoo you child, come and drink water, you want food too?" I nodded and she held my hand, she dusted the sand off and rubbed the back of my hand like she understood what I was going through.
Can she be trusted?? Why's she suddenly outside when everyone has obviously gone somewhere, to sleep or their war ground where they killed each other.
My mind did waver but I can't trust anyone not even the ground, they might suddenly open and take me in, one thing I've been expecting that hasn't happened yet.
We got to a building and she opened it with her finger, the door creaked open and my lip cornered in a smirk, it was too huge to be a dining hall but it had chairs and tables, expensive ones.
We walked to the back where it seemed like the kitchen cause it had pots and cookers, she picked up a plate rinsed it and opened the pot.
They eat nice food too.
She served me and poured a glass of water, I shouldn't trust this food but I shouldn't die of starvation either, I drank the whole cup like my life depended on it and pounced on the food, the old woman smiled watching me eat like your mother would.
"Why were you outside? They bully you in your room?" Her question came the moment I threw the last spoonful into my mouth, my brows lit up in confusion, bully? Room?
"Don't mind them, they your friends, you get closer by day, okay? " She patted my back, taking the plate and glass to the sink.
"Thanks for the food" I muttered resting my head on the table, where are the rooms she's talking about, is it crowded, 7 to 1? Bunk beds? Hmmm.
"Where are the rooms?" I pushed my self to ask and she turned.
"Oh so you lost? Follow here it's easiest, you move to the left, see a big door, you enter and your room bam! " She smiled widely making me chuckle at her description. I withdrew my smile immediately following the backdoor she showed me.
I followed her instructions and came face to face with a big door, it was really big, I pushed the knob but it didn't budge, do I need some kind of registration like the fingerprint? Pretty sure I wasn't registered, is there some kind of hall for that too? I turned looking around, the door suddenly creaked open and I shrugged walking inside, it had multiple door like hostel, I opened the first one and the girls turned with questioning eyes.
"Are you lost?"
"Well this isn't your room" The pretty girl on sunglasses even in her room chimed in.
"Lock the door zema" The door banged on my face leaving me in shock.
What the?? The place suddenly felt big, am I supposed to opened every door till I find mine? Were they not supposed to introduce me to the place? How do I f*****g fit in.
I ruffled my hair increasing my pace, every f*****g door was far from the other, how big was these rooms.
"Hello, I"
"f**k off! " I scoffed at the door that had already closed loud on my face, my grip tightened on my skirt.
This surely is the best place to make you feel like an outcast, so no one would let me sleep in theirs till it's f*****g morning??
"Zema door close" Who the f**k is zema, I gritted my teeth, how come zema is everywhere and locking doors for them.
I hit the back of my neck trying to relieve some pain, I rolled my eyes resting my back on the wall, I can't keep going, who knows what tomorrow holds for me, I should probably preserve the food in my stomach.
My eye had caught a glimpse of the pink clock before one of the doors closed, it 2:19 then, it should be about 2:30am now.
I exhaled closing my eyes, the door beside suddenly creaked open and a girl brought her head out.
"Hey" she waved, smiling sheepishly, her blue hazel eyes literally standing out.
"OMG you're so pretty, are you new here? Wanna stay here till morning??" My brows twitched at her strawberry-sweet voice, it was so unlike this hell.
Is this a trap?? I didn't even knock on her door, are they watching me? Questions flooded my mind as she kept smiling at me.
"You can come in, patrol starts by 3, you don't wanna be caught outside" I turned around to watch my surroundings before walking in, the room was impressive.
They sure knew how to make it look like they were giving the best lives, are these people poor, are they also hostages???
