. The celebration was starting and I was so excited. This was like a dream come true. A chance to glimpse the water dragon and if we were really lucky he would take flight.
The elves had their shops opened up and Greyson and I strolled through the Valley checking them all out. The amazing smells coming from some of them were mouth-watering. We hadn't eaten all day and I was starving. We stopped by one of the the shops run by a small elderly elf woman. She had curly brown hair, a button nose with rose chubby cheeks, and her lips were in a perfect heart shape. She had right green eyes and was voluptuous. I smiled at her as I watches her cut bread. "Would you like something?” she asked in a small quiet voice.” Yes, please. What is this called?” I asked curiously.” This is a fried Dula.” She informed me.” It would remind you of a potato.” She explains.” Well, take one please.” Greyson told her handing her silver coins from his pocket. The Dula was amazing. It was warm and filling. Something that would be great with deer roast. We continued walking and we stopped by a shop that looked as if it sold sweets.” How may I assist you?” The young man asked behind the table.” Give us one of your favorites.” I told him handing him 5 silver coins. He handed us a small basket. The smell reminded me of fried apples. "This is Clara. It is an apple-like fruit served with browned-honey sauce.” He informed us. Grayson and I took a bite and our eyes grew wide. It was delicious. We thanked the shop owner and continued on our journey. We walked upon a shop where a young woman was serving drinks.” Can we have 2 please?” I asked her. ”Here you go.” She handed us two small cups. “This is Feywine. The elves' favorite drink.” She informed us. It was fluorescent green nectar. “It's created from the juice of flowers, mixed with honey and additional, secret ingredients. This nectar is of ancient origin and its secret ingredients might have long been a mystery. Feywine is used liberally at elven festivals.” She explained. "That's delicious can I have another?” I asked her.” Oh no mam you don't want more than one cup. The effects will be too strong.” She replied and my eyes grew wide. I looked at Greyson who had his cup lifted to his lift but thought better of it.” One of us should be sober.” He told the woman handing it back but still paying for both cups.” What will it do to me?” I asked her.” It just helps you let loose and have fun. It soothes the nerves and gets you out of your head.” She explained.” Okay, thank you.” I groaned hoping it didn't mess me up. I wanted to be straight for the ceremony. "You should be fine. The food we just are will filter most of the effects. You'll just feel relaxed.” Grayson peered down at me amused at my worried state.
Later that night the elves had started a large bonfire a few yards from the pond. Warriors watched over everyone making sure no one ventured too close to the water. I sat on a log watching as Greyson danced around with Jordan in his arms to the Eleven music. I could feel the effects of the drink I had earlier only slightly. I felt relaxed and happy and wasn't thinking about all the bad s**t going on right now. I was focused on the moon watching it to tie to the highest point in the sky when the dragon would make his appearance.
I walked along the shore keeping my distance from the water. I had reached the cliff facing and heard a splashing in the water. I looked toward the noise and found a rabbit had ventured too close and its foot was wedged between two rocks. I slowly made my way over to it watching my surroundings carefully. I reach the bank and bent down removing the rock and allow g the rabbit to go free when hot air blew into my face. I froze where I was and slowly lifted my head. I came face to face with large silver eyes that watched me cautiously. His scales seemed to take on the camouflage of his surroundings as the ones near the water were almost black with white ripples and the top was more brown and green like the cliff behind us. He brought his large long knows near me and sniffed me. He could eat me in one bite. I don't know what came over me but I slowly lifted my hand to his nose and stroked his rough scales. He closed his eyes as if my touch felt better than anything he had ever experienced. He slowly pulled the top half of his body from the water and lowered his long neck. I noticed his feet looked almost like fins as I rubbed down the length of his neck. He threw his head back as if he was trying to tell me something when his fin lifted me and sat me at the base of his neck. I held on tight as I watched his magnificent wings rise from the water. The ridges between his large scales were easy to grasp. Everyone gasped as we rose into the air. They all grew smaller as we climbed higher and higher. We rose above the peak of the mountain and he took off flying through the clouds and in front of the moon. "Woohoo.” I yelped as he spun in the air and swooped down over everyone's head spraying them with water he had stored in his mouth. I laughed as I watched them scatter and we rose back into the air. I felt freer than I had ever felt before on the back of the massive dragon. I held out my arms and gripped his sides with my legs creating the illusion I was flying myself.” Woohoo.” I yelped again.
He eventually lowered us back to the bank and I climbed off his back and watched as he disappeared behind the waterfall. Everyone ran to my side as I walked up from the bank.” What were you thinking Gabriella? " Greyson scolded me.” He wasn't going to hurt me Greyson calm down.” I growled at him refusing to let him ruin my mood.” You couldn't have been sure. You risked your life for no reason. How can you be so selfish.” He roared. I turned on him without even thinking.” I'm selfish. Really! Why don't you tell me how selfish I am next week when you get to live your life watching our daughter grow and become the woman she is meant to be while I must give mine to her? Then you can tell me how f*****g selfish I am Greyson.” I cried storming off away from everyone.
