The Trickery

Lucius soon arrived near a painting and torch holder. He seemed emotionless as he reached over towards the torch holder, taking a hold of it and pulling it, making it tilt forward and make the painting instantly part ways revealing a secret passage into a dark corridor. As Lucius stepped forward with the bubble of goo, the painting closed behind him, the torch holder went back to it’s original location and Lucius was left in total darkness. As he snapped his fingers green fire burst into life lighting up the corridor that led to a chamber full of books, dust, a fireplace, a painting of a silver dragon above the fireplace, a table with an open book that seemed to have unknown symbols written on it and another small table with a mortar and alchemy ingredients appeared in the corner of the chamber. Lucius made his way towards the table with an open book and sat the bubble with the goo on the book. For the most part nothing happened but just as it seemed like nothing was happening the fireplace roared to life, silver fire burning instead of the green that surrounded the chamber. Out of the fire emerged a smoky dragon head that peered at Lucius with deadly intent. Lucius wasted no time into dropping to one knee and bowing to the smoky dragon, his left hand on his chest while his right hand was on his back. ”My Master, I have brought you the older sorcceror just as you have requested of me, I hope his power is to your liking.” Lucius told the smoky dragon head with a voice that sounded eager to please him. But all the smokey dragon head do was snort a cloud of black smoke at Lucius forcing the man to drop on all fours and cough profusely that seemed to get worse. Sweat covered the mans face as veins popped all over his head as he turned both pale and red. "I gave you one task, one task only! And you took four years to deliver a green goo of an old fool?!” The smokey dragon spoke, his voice deep and intimidating as Lucius coughed more before begging for his life through immense pain, tears forcing their way out of his eyes and rolling down his cheeks. ”P-l-e-a-s-e...” Lucius coughed more as he forced himself to speak through immense pain. ”M-a-s-t-e-r....” Lucius was coughing even more forcing some blood to spill out of his mouth to the ground. ”G-i-v-e.... m-e... o-n-e... l-a-s-t... c-h-a-n-c-e...” Just as Lucius forced himself to say the last word, the black smoke dissipated, forcing Lucius to gasp for air and cough some more before he started to calm down. ”When I tell you do something you better do it and don’t waste my time!” The smokey dragon spoke before simply disappearing, the bubble with the goo on the book got sucked in and the book quickly flipped shut, leaving the room silent apart from the crackling green fire in the background. Lucius got up from the ground and collected himself. Meanwhile back at the King and Queen’s chambers, the King had returned back and was discussing the tragedy and the dark magic that struck their kingdom and one of their loyal subjects. ”Who could it be? We need to protect our people better, but especially our son...” The King spoke with a worried voice, stress obviously getting to him, but he soon collected himself as soon as he heard his wife’s soothing voice. ”Calm down my love, we will protect Czar together if we must, for now, let us go rest.” With it the both of them laid to rest, their newborn baby sleeping soundly in the crib near them. Little did they know that this was only the beginning of their problems.
