Rosa’s POV I pulled away from Alex. He was frowning too, which told me he had heard the scream as clearly as I had. Outside, chaos erupted with people running, shouting, and all moving toward one section of the ranch. Alex took my hand, guiding me carefully as we followed the crowd. Then I saw it. Huge flames licked at the building like it had a personal vendetta against it, devouring wood and everything in it. “Wh-what happened?” I asked no one in particular. A woman beside me answered. I guess she was a neighbour. “Faulty electrical cables, I think.” I shook my head. The fire had spread too fast. I had walked past this area earlier, before Alex and I went to the hay room.
