Chapter 26
Camila Rivera greets Abby Goodwin and Pari Malik by the large gargoyle statue in front of her home. She embraces Pari warmly in a long hug, then says, “She was stopped because of you.”
Camila signals them to follow her toward the entrance corridor. “The others are already here. Let’s join them.”
Tiny lights placed carefully throughout the plants, vines, and flowers, complemented by torches held in tall vertical stands and the bouncing lightwaves from the dipping pool, create an ethereal, magical feeling to the night courtyard.
Pari approaches Kawaii Hale, who pretends he does not see her. Pari steps close in front of him and sincerely says, “Forgive me, Kawaii. I am so deeply and genuinely sorry.” Kawaii holds her gaze for a few seconds, then steps away.
