KAWAII AND PARI VALET park and stroll into the colorful lobby of the grand Waikiki hotel, then down short steps to an outdoor terrace overlooking the beach.
“Three for lunch, please,” Kawaii says. “Malik.”
“Good afternoon. Your guest is already seated. Please follow me,” the host says.
They arrive at the last table. “It’s you!” Pari exclaims in elation when she sees Nathan Patrick stand to welcome her. “Abby told me you have been recovering incredibly well.”
They are seated and Nathan is speechless for a minute after the greeting. Kawaii and Pari can see he is trying, and failing, to suppress tears.
“Words aren’t needed,” Pari says reassuringly, “they’re really not.”
“I know you’re the reason I was found in time,” Nathan says. “I told Abby you are heaven-sent, a type of angel.
