Wren
When drew her fox in the dirt that layered the bottom of her cage, Vida purred softly in her mind as she added the finishing touches and sat back to admire her work.
"I look stunning."
Wren chuckled,
"I think you give my artist skills too much credit, you look like a dog in this picture."
The fox shrugged and continued grooming her tail, there was always a particular spot that never quiet laid flat and it bothered her immensely.
"I'm sorry I didn't listen too you Vida, you were right we shouldn't have come here."
Vida stopped grooming and looked at her,
"If we hadn't of come we would not have found our mate"
"Has he spoken yet?" Wren asked, she knew that once Shifters found their mates, their counterparts could communicate without their humans knowing about it.
The fox looked saddened,
"No he has not responded to me, In fact I cannot even feel him now."
Wren sighed and looked towards the cabin, it had been two days since that fight, she could feel that Thorin was awake, but according to Vida, his wolf was no longer present. This concerned her, what were they doing to him in there?
The door to the porch opened and she gasped as she saw Thorin hobble out on crutches, he looked pretty bad, bruises covered his face and his abdomen was a mess of bandages and gauze, his leg was in a hard cast, she could see his eyes glazed over with pain as he tried to make his way down the two steps. He managed but Tyr had to steady him. A growl escaped her as Tyrs hand closed around Thorin's arm, the big man looked over at her with his eyes full of amusement.
Thorin also looked over and his face twisted in rage, "Let her out of that f*****g cage!" He yelled, only to receive a quick backhand across the cheek, she sucked in a breath as Tyr and Thorin glared at each other. Jason walked across the clearing to her cage and with a twist of a key the door swung open.
She took a hesitant step out and was greeted by a general breeze, there was a difference between that light breeze locked in a cage, in comparison to being free. she personally enjoyed it more now, Vida agreed.
Jason was staring at her with curiosity, "I don't quiet know how you fit into this story yet little fox." she did not take her eyes off of Thorin, and he chuckled, "You both will be staying in the bunkhouse I suppose." she followed him to the long cabin and followed Thorin into the room that they placed him in.
"Dinner will be at dusk, we will let you know when, I don't foresee Thorin leaving anytime soon, and clearly neither are you." Jason said over his shoulder, and the two men left closing the door behind them.
Thorin was sitting on his cot staring at her, a small smile played across his lips as he seemed to take her in. She returned his gaze, "Sorry about before." he said quietly, and she shook her head. "Wolves will be wolves."
He smiled for real this time, "So how did you get here?" He asked her after a while.
She felt Vida huff in annoyance, and she sat down on the floor in front of him,
"We could tell him I suppose, There is no danger now."
"I am a survivor of the the Silver stone Pack m******e ." She said softly
His eyes went dark for a moment and reached out grabbing her hand gently she gasped and pulled away as a small shock erupted where their skin touched, he also jerked his hand. His face was as puzzled as hers was and she felt Vida laughing in her mind.
"That was the mate bond." Vida laughed
Wren smiled up at Thorin who was still puzzled, "Vida says it's the bond."
His face relaxed and an easy smile came back to his lips, "That makes sense I suppose." He leaned back against the wall and she noticed how tiered he looked. "Would you like help laying down?" she asked shyly and He smiled, "actually yea." he motioned to his leg, "I can't lift it." She nodded and picked up his heavy casted leg, he turned to lay down and she gently propped it up using a pillow.
"I know we don't really know each other...but I feel like I've known you my whole life." He murmured tiredly. His eyes where closed, she was thankful that they where so he didn't see her blush. She felt that way also, but hearing it out loud made her happy, she knew they were young, so the mate bond was different, He was her best friend even though they had never met before, she couldn't imagine life without him now.
"Get some sleep Thorin, I'll come and get you when dinner is ready." she turned to leave but he caught her hand, she felt heat creep up her neck and to her cheeks, his cheeks where also a rosy pink as the tingly sensation was activated.
"Stay with me?" he asked
She smiled and nodded, he shuffled his way to the side of the cot and stared at her expectantly. She sat down on the bed and nestled into him, she felt safe with him, he let out a content sigh and she watched as his breathing became slower.
"He is a good wolf."
Vida purred in her mind.
"Yea, he is."
Thorin
Thorin was the first to wake up, The birds had started go silent as dusk settled, He felt Wren on his arm and smiled as he looked down at her. She was tucked into the crook of his armpit with her head on his chest, He loved her. He was startled at the thought, but after rolling it around in his mind he decided that he did in fact love her, he blushed slightly and was suddenly glad the Ferir wasn't in his mind right now to make fun of him. At least the old Fenrir would have made fun of him teasingly, but the new Fenrir was just an asshole. He shook took a breath and tried to temper his anger before he woke her.
"Why are you angry?" she asked sleepily and looked up at him with bleary eyes, she yawned and stretched before settling back on his chest. Damn nothing got past her.
"I was just thinking about my wolf."
"And that makes you angry?"
"We are currently fighting." her brow creased and she looked at him in confusion.
"You do not get along with your wolf?"
He sighed and rubbed his eyes, "With my old wolf I got a long with him ok, It was rocky at first but we made it work.
"You have a new Wolf?" She asked in confusion, he chuckled and shook his head.
"No it's just since being here I learned things about Fen, and they aren't good things, I just...don't want him in my head right now." He looked at her, and she seemed to think for a moment before nodding.
"I suppose that is fair, sometimes I wish that Vida was not in my head all the time, but she has protected me from awful things so I overall love that she is with me."
He smiled, "Fen protected me a lot in the pack, But he is an angry wolf, and sometimes I feel scared of him."
There was a knock on the door and it opened, Jason smirked at them and jabbed a thumb behind him. "Dinner."
Wren got up and helped him move his leg off the bed to the floor before giving him his crutches. They made their way to the fire, Tyr was already there, Jason came out of the house a couple minutes later with two plates pilled high full of mashed potatoes and pork chops.
Thorin tried to stop himself from wolfing it down, but by the end of the meal he was practically wearing it. Wren was more careful with her food and took her time. They where all silent and Thorin occupied himself with watching the sun as I'd dipped behind the mountains and disappeared.
Jason was the first to break the silence.
"You need Fenrir to heal your leg."
"No."
Tyr sighed from across the fire and looked at him, "Thorin I snapped your leg in two, if you do not allow Fenrir back in to heal your leg it will take months to recover, and we do not have that time."
"Not to mention that you may never have full range of motion in it again if he doesn't heal it." Jason added in helpfully.
"I don't care, this is my choice and I do not want that monster in my head right now or probably ever again for that matter." He spat, he had been hurt with how Fenrir had behaved towards him, as if he was holding him back, as if he was not the one in charge. Never had he ever put down a barrier between them before, Thorin had been helpless in his own body and it had been terrifying.
Wren grabbed his hand and he instantly calmed, he murmered a low thank you before turning back to the two men.
"What happens if he blocks me again when he's mad and wants to get back at me!" he felt his voice raising a long with his anger. "What if he decides to hurt Wren, or decides to just take my body for a joy ride!"
He could feel Wren tense as he said this, and it did not escape the two men either, he saw them both glance at her.
"Then we will stop him, Tyr literally was his jailor once if anyone knows how to contain him it's Tyr." Jason snapped back.
But he just shook his head, "No now give me a pill."
Wren looked at him, "Please tell me what is going on?" her meek little voice tugged at his heart strings and he turned to return her gaze sensing the two men get up and leave them alone by the fire.
"His name is Fenrir?" She asked, her voice was strained.
"Yes."
There was a flash of recognizeion in her eyes and he tipped his head to the side in question.
"Vida...she knows your wolf." She pulled her hands away from his and stood up, "Your mother is Loki?"
Thorin was confused now, her anxiety practically seeping from her pours as she got to her feet and began pacing. "My mother was a Kitsune, and if I'm supposed to believe this mythology crap then yea I guess she would have to be Loki."
"Vida?" Tyr's voice made them both jump "Your little fox's Mother is Grid." Suddenly the man started laughing, it was a deep booming sound that echoed through the clearing.
Tyr was completely beside himself with laughter, "What is it?" Thorin got to his feet and practically shouted. But Tyr was walking away. Jason was the one to answer.
"Her father is Odin, This is the Kings daughter."
