Cass It had taken four agonizing, annoying, blood-filled days, but I’d finally located the vampire clan that Kiera had been talking about. I was in the middle of a forest, waiting for them. Around me, the colored leaves of fall fell like rain—spinning and twisting in the moonlight. I glanced up at the nearly full moon rising on the horizon. We were almost out of time. Morga wanted Natalie for something to do with resurrecting the sunken army, but I didn’t know what. I felt the stir of magic and then Kiera appeared next to me. “It’s them,” she confirmed. “They’re coming right towards us, maybe a minute.” “Good,” I said, sighing and reaching into my pocket for another cigarette. I’d smoke about forty packs in the last days, unable to look at them without hearing Natalie’s voice. Marb R
