My heart nearly stopped.
The children's room was locked from the outside. I stared at the door in confusion before my eyes slowly dropped to the silver key hanging from the lock.

My breathing turned shallow instantly.
Why would somebody lock my children inside?
I rushed forward immediately and banged hard on the door.
“Jacob!” I shouted fearfully. “Mathew!”
Tiny footsteps rushed toward the door from inside.
“Mummy?” Mathew’s trembling voice answered.
Relief hit me so hard that my knees almost gave out.
“I’m here,” I said quickly. “Are you boys okay?”
