Two days after the Braves’ charter flight returned to Atlanta, wrapped in glory, Tommy found himself back in New York City.
“Welcome to the Tonight Show,” belted out the host, Jimmy Diamond. “We’ve got an incredible show for you tonight: World Series hero Tommy Browning and recording legend Beyoncé are here!”
Diamond soon launched into his monologue and stuck in a joke involving his male guest. “A man in Saginaw, Michigan, woke up twenty million dollars richer after finding the winning lottery ticket on the street. To which Tommy Browning said, ‘Hey, you think you had a good year?’”
Immediately following the monologue, Tommy was called out for his show-business debut.
