    250 years after the world erupted into chaos from an increase in natural disasters and a war fought between the savages and the civilized, the walls of our great city were constructed. A few years later and the wall was then constructed into a dome, hovering over and protecting us all from the outside. The purpose of the dome was simple, to keep the savages out and to protect us all from any future floods and fires. Our lives are very comfortable, today's technological and medicinal advances protecting us from practically ever getting sick or going hungry. Life couldn't be more perfect, for almost everyone but me.

Clary was born inside the walls of the greatest city to survive the end of the world. Her life was always meant to be very simple. Until she discovers the Soul Mate serum that was tested and injected into very few families in order to preserve the human race. The serum had been passed down through each generation following and it's just her luck that her family line was very much affected. The serum is a genetic mutation that immediately connects two souls together from the moment of their birth. The only major downside is that each fated pair will share every scar and every wound ever inflicted on the other. So when Clary started to receive very life threatening wounds at a fairly young age, she knew she would have no choice but to search her mate out in order to save her own life. There was only one problem. With wounds this severe and scars this deep, she knew there was only one place he could be. On the Outside.
