Avery
When we finally arrive in Florida, I stretch my arms and get up to gather my things. I follow my mom and Preston out of the plane and to the baggage claim. Once we find our bags, my mom pulls out her phone and calls Ana. When she finds out where she is we start walking over.
When we walk out of the airport, we are met with a loud high-pitched scream and we see Ana running over to my mom and jumping on her making the both of them lose their balance.
“Vicky! Oh my god I have missed you so much.” Ana screams while trying to get up off of my mom.
“I couldn’t tell! Jesus you almost broke my spine!” My mom says while laughing and hugging her back.
Ana looks at preston and I “oh my, you two have grown up so much since I saw you last!” She walks over to Preston and gives him a hug, then me. “Congratulations Aves on graduating! I’m so proud of you!” She said.
“Thank you Mrs. Williams” I say back.
“Oh please, I’ve known you forever call me Ana!” She responds.
I smile and start bringing my things to the car.
“This is Oliver, he’s your driver for the summer. He’s normally the boys’ driver but they agreed on sharing since it’s you guys.” Ana states.
“Hello Oliver.” My mom says while shaking his hand.
“Miss Jones” Oliver greeted her.
I shake Olivers hand and climb in the back seat. The Williams have been very successful with their careers. Ana’s husband, John, was born into money, but only continued to grow with the businesses he owned. He is the owner of some of the largest companies. It’s would be an understatement to say that they are “rich”.
“So, John is out for the day, but Riley, Liam, and their friends are at the house for the day. I was thinking we can have a little barbecue by the pool and just stay in, so you guys can get settled.” Ana says.
“That sounds amazing, I could use a glass of wine by the pool.” My mom lets out a deep breath.
Ana has always been the very kind, I adore her.
Riley is Ana’s oldest son, he is 24, he was never really around much when we were kids, but he was always the best when we was. Ana and John only had one kid together and that was Liam, so Riley spent a lot of time with his father. He was the one that always tried to get me out of the house and enjoy myself during the summer, but when he wasn’t there, I was mostly alone.
We arrive at the gate to get to the house, and drive up the drive way. Their house is unbelievable really, but it makes sense considering John’s career. We walk up to the entrance and open the large doors and walk in. Right when I walk in I see Riley and Liam standing there, and 2 other men that I don’t recognize. All of a sudden I get this anxiety ridden feeling in my stomach.
Liam is standing there, with his hands in the pockets of his black sweatpants and is wearing a white t-shirt that looks like is about to rip open where it cuts off on his arms. He has dark hair, and is extremely tall. Seeing him again in person, makes me question why I ever thought that I could pull this off.
“V! I haven’t seen you in years!” Riley comes and hugs me. Riley is more friendly when it comes to greeting us, and when he hugged me I felt a little bit more at ease knowing that he was always so kind to me.
Liam walks up to me with a slight smirk on his face. Anything he does pisses me off. It’s like he’s looking at me expecting me to fall on my knees for him or something. I coldly greet him by a little wave and a fake smile.
“This is Liam’s friend Parker and Riley’s friend Jordan. They spend a lot of time here so you’ll be seeing them quite often.” Ana says.
I reach out to shake each of their hands and introduce myself.
“Hi, I’m Avery, it’s nice to meet you.”
“The pleasure is mine.” Parker says with a smile.
“It’s lovely to meet you Avery.” Jordan says.
“Okay! Why don’t you guys go upstairs and unpack, and get into your swimsuits! Riley, bring Preston to his room, Liam will you show Avery hers? Vic I’ll show you yours.” Ana says.
I roll my eyes at the thought of having to speak anymore to Liam, but I am staying in his home so I might as well get used to it. I start picking up my bags and suit case when I feel the touch of a large hand over mine.
“I’ll get this, go on up.” Liam says while towering over me. I hate how small I feel next to him.
I sigh and start to walk up. We pass by 3 hallways, until we finally reach the hallway where my room is. All of the kids are normally on the opposite wing of the house.
“This is my room, and here’s yours.” Liam says while pointing to the only 2 rooms in the hallway.
“Your room is right next to mine?” I say, irritated.
“Yup, so try to keep it down at night, I’m sure it’ll be very difficult with all of those books that keep you busy.” He says sarcastically.
I give him a fake smile and take my luggage into my room and close the door behind me. Of course he’s right next to my room. Just my luck.
I start to unpack the bags that Ayla gave me, and put them in drawers. If I wasn’t worried already, I am now. These clothes are nothing like what I normally wear, what the he*l was I thinking. I sigh and continue unpacking, organizing every drawer and putting everything where it needs to be. I find the black bikini Ayla made me try on and a coverup that matches and go to the bathroom. I put on the bikini, brush my hair and put some deodorant on. I slip on the coverup and start walking downstairs.
When I reach the back door I feel unbelievably anxious. “It’s okay Avery, you can do this.” I say to myself. I put a smile on my face and walk out.
When I walk out, I see Riley and Preston talking to each other at a table outside of the pool. Parker and Jordan are in the pool, throwing around a football. My mom and Ana are in the tanning chairs talking with a glass of wine facing the view of the city.
Since I can’t find Liam, I decided I’ll go in the pool, thank god he isn’t out here, I don’t care for his obnoxious comments.
I set down my towel on the chair, and slip off my cover up. When I get my cover up off, I look in the pool to see Jordan and Parker have stopped throwing the ball and staring at me. Why are they looking at me like that? I just shrug it off and start walking to the pool. When I reach the water I hear the sliding glass door and I turn to see Liam standing there staring at me. He’s wearing nothing but his swim trunks. I can’t help but stare his shirtless body. It looks like something out of a magazine. His tan large arms are sitting at the sides of him, and the muscles in his core seemed to look carved out. He definitely knows how good he looks.
He starts walking towards the pool and that’s when I turn my face away from him. I go sit on one of the ledges in the pool more towards Parker and Jordan.
Parker hands the football to Jordan and walks over to me.
“Hello love, so where do you come from?” Parker asks. He has a slight accent that I didn’t notice before.
“Colorado. How about you?” I reply while seeing Liam walk in the pool coming towards us.
“I’m from London, but I come and visit my father every once in a while. He works for the same business John owns.”
“Oh that’s-“
I get cut off my the sound of Liam clearing his throat. I decide to ignore his attempt to interrupt me and continue my conversation with Parker.
“That’s great, do you like it out here? I’m sure it has to be a huge change.” I ask completely ignoring the fact that Liam is standing right behind me.
“I know you heard me, kitten.” Liam says. Kitten? What am I, his pet?
I turn to look at Liam who is standing a lot closer than I thought. I look up at him, “don’t you know it’s rude to interrupt?” I snap.
Liam smiles, and gives a look to Parker who then nods his head and walks back to Jordan.
“What’s with the attitude kitten?” He says while still having a smile on his face.
I would do anything to slap that smile off of his face. I decide to not respond. I don’t feel like playing this game with him.
As I turn around and start walking away, he grabs my arm and pulls me to where I’m facing his chest. I feel my pulse shoot up and my heart begins to race. My face turns pink, and I freeze.
“Aw what happened, cat got your tongue?” He says like he’s talking to a child.
I still say nothing. I feel like how I used to feel around him. Like a scared little girl that has a pathetic crush, ready to run to her room and lock herself away.
He leans down to where his mouth is right by my ear and whispers “I don’t know what you think you’re trying to accomplish by wearing this skimpy little bikini, but go upstairs and change before I carry you out myself.”
He lets go of his hold on me, and stands back up. I didn’t want to go change but there was no way I was letting him carry me out of here like a toddler. I roll my eyes and walk out of the pool and back inside.
I run up the stairs and lock my door. I catch my breath and think back to what just happened. I’ve seen Liam angry but this was.. different. It’s like he became, a little bit possessive. I should be pissed off right now, but I can’t help but feel.. turned on?
I grab my towel and start heading to the bathroom. I start the shower, hop in. I start feeling angry. He can’t just tell me what to do anymore, I won’t let it happen. I am an adult and can wear whatever the he*l I want. I can’t believe I let him get to me again. It’s like when I’m around him I lose all dominance.
That’s it. I’m going to make it my mission to let him know that he doesn’t have any control over me anymore. He can’t just expect me to do whatever he says.
Liam, you don’t know what you just started.
