Chapter One
Leonard Briggs Demitrus woke up still feeling sleepy as he haven't yet gotten enough sleep
His constant phone ringing was what had woke him up, and this was not normal as his top employees and head house servants who had access to this his private number know not to disturb him during this hour of the day meant for his rest
He reluctantly picked up the call as it must be really urgent due to the frequency of the call
"Yes?….. What's the issue" Leonard Briggs Demitrus said into the phone
There was silence at the other end of the line, and Demitrus could tell what it was, that it was something that was hard to say
"Keeping my line hanging, are you?" Demitrus said as he looked into the air afar off in the distance
"Sir, this is something hard to say…., it's concerning the company, something happened last night" his private secretary finally spoke
The news of the recent event that happened last night had already spread round through the entire company headquarters within a few hours
But his private secretary was the person chosen to deliver the message
Leonard Briggs Demitrus waited for a while as he took deep breaths, already bracing himself for what was about to come
The private secretary was used to her boss and knew what was needed to announce such a news to him
Just bluntly saying what have happened would have warranted the wrath of her boss and everyone associated with what have just happened
But giving Demitrus time to check through what have happened was a way she had found could work effectively to calm the boss down before the real message is delivered
"Ok tell me what happened" Demitrus finally said as he calmed his nerves waiting for the information for which she had called for in the first place
" Ok Sir" his private secretary said to Leonard Briggs Demitrus
"There was an incident at the factory last night and the company have incurred a loss of half a billion dollars…"
Leonard Briggs Demitrus couldn't speak as he held the phone to his ear, trying to arrange in his head what he had just heard right now
The private secretary continue speaking to give him to give him the full details of what had happened in the factory
Demitrus had already blacked out and all the words of the secretary was no longer being heard by him with his mind floating around after such a huge loss
He slammed the phone shut as he started thinking of the impact such a thing would cause to his company
'How could this happen' he thought to himself as it has been a while he heard such a heartbreaking news in relation to his company
Demitrus went off to chill for while as such a news had to be delayed for a hit before looking into it
Few hours later
"How's preparation going….?" Demitrus said on the phone
"All good Sir…. We would literally tear the place apart and get the culprit we promise you" the head of the security agency replied
The main headquarters of Gloucrest international was in a total disarray, the opposite of the atmosphere the 150 storey was known to be
The half a billion getting siphoned from the company accounts was really taking a big hit on the employees
Demitrus was in a state of total calm as Andrea his chief security officer (CSO) came into his office
"It's all ready Boss, the operation would be commencing this evening" Andrea said
Demitrus sat on his huge office chair rotated 180 degrees with his back face facing the visitor side where Andrea was sitted
Without responding to the information Andrea had just given him, Demitrus stared continuously in silence at the thick glass wall in front of him
Andrea knowing his boss knew better than to continue talking, for now silence was what was needed
'Losing half a billion is not even slightly enough to wreck the company' Andrea thought, but 'what was going to be on his mind is surely the hidden implications it had on him as an individual and his company
"The disrespect….. The audacity… For a man to steal from me"
"A group sir, and a highly sophisticated one at that" Andrea responded but immediately shutted his mouth seeing the look on his boss face
"When is the operation commencing?" Demitrus asked his CSO
"This evening Sir…., Our investigation into the situation had lead us to a club at the outskirts of town"
"The club is known for it's notoriety and seems it's linked to a Mafia…., And that we have no much information on"
"When is the operation commencing?" Demitrus repeated his question
"This evening Sir" Andrea gave a short reply as he knew that was what his boss would like to hear
"I would be personally going with the personnels and agents for the operation" Demitrus decided as he turned his chair around to face his CSO
"My decision is final" Demitrus said as he saw the disapproving look on his chief security officer face
With this Andrea acknowledged that there was no changing his master's mind and the night was going to be an eventful one
Leonard Briggs Demitrus could expressly notice the difference in the atmosphere of his company and decided to take one of his rare walk through the building
His private secretary miss Juliana called out to accompany him as she saw him leaving his office against his schedule
"What do you think about the incident that occured yesterday night and it's effect of the staffs?" Demitrus asked her as they took the normal staff elevator
His personal elevator goes straight up to his penthouse office as the top of the building, while the VIP elevator had access to all the floors and was used by the staffs in high ranking position only
He decided to take the normal elevator so the staffs in the different floors would not see that it was the boss coming and so he would be able to judge the feel of the place, even if it was just for the first few seconds or minutes before he was seen
They went three floors down as they made way into the open space office hall in the floor, and heard the silent Whispers alll around the room
"The company would close down"
"The loss is too much, we probably won't get paid this month"
"What are we going to do, we would definitely get laid off"
"I better start applying for a job somewhere else incase things get out of hand"
"I heard the CEO is….."
Leonard Briggs Demitrus could hear all the Whispering and side talks immediately he entered into the floor from the elevator
He was a dragon after all and could hear multiple conversation at once and words spoken in whispers from a distance afar off from where he stood
