The door of Power was tall and dark, forged from obsidian and crowned with lightning. As the Keepers neared, their reflections in the polished surface wavered—not as they were, but as they could be.
Stronger. Louder. Unstoppable.
Aro frowned. “This door doesn’t just lead somewhere. It tempts.”
Elara nodded. “Power always does.”
They pushed it open.
Instantly, the world changed. They now stood in a throne room suspended in the sky. Below them, clouds swirled violently, stormlight flashing in rhythmic pulses. The room was empty except for four thrones. One for each of them.
Voices whispered from every direction. Familiar, yet twisted.
“You could end suffering if you had control.”
“People would listen—if they feared you.”
“Why ask for respect when you could demand it?”
“You have knowledge. Shouldn’t you decide what others deserve to know?”
Lumi staggered back. “These are the voices of power without purpose.”
A booming sound echoed and a being of light stepped from the air, cloaked in golden fire. No face. No name. Only presence.
“You have entered the Chamber of Dominion,” it said. “To pass, you must answer this: What is power without wisdom?”
Kian stepped forward. “Destruction.”
The being nodded. “And wisdom without power?”
Elara answered, voice steady. “Is a whisper in a storm.”
The being opened its arms. “Then claim your answer.”
One by one, the thrones before them shattered, and in their place rose four mirrors. Each one showed them a moment where they could have taken control and chose not to.
Aro stared into his. He remembered the protest where he could’ve taken the mic and bent the crowd with rage but didn’t.
“I feared losing myself,” he said. “But real power isn’t force. It’s influence.”
They spoke their truths. With each one, the mirrors dimmed, then melted into light.
The being of fire bowed.
“You have passed the Trial of Power—not by taking it, but by questioning why you should.”
From the air, a second rune formed beside the first: Power—Balanced.
The Keepers stood taller now, changed again.
Three doors remained. The next one was humming alive with currents of flickering images and digital noise.
The door of Technology awaited.
