Checkmate

"And you look mesmerizing, as usual," he chuckles to himself. He comes closer to me lets his hand glide through my light strawberry blond hair. He's dark green eyes are looking at his fingers as he pulls them gently through my hair and I am thinking of every reason right now why I hate him. He slowly breaths in and exhales, "I will give you a pen and paper and you may write down everything you wish to change in this room to make it more comfortable for your stay. I will try my best to make anything and everything work, and make it exactly how you envision it." I look at him and see the sincerity in his eyes. I just give a small smile and nod. He takes a couple steps back and scratches his head. "Well," he says in a aloof voice, "what shall we do today Kitty?" I gulp at how soft his voice was just now. I look around the room trying to find something to do and see nothing. I look up at him and smile a little, "Do you know how to play chess?" He smiles wide and shakes his head. "Well, of course I do, but I will say that I have played this game for hundreds of years. There will be no way you will beat me, so don't you think it's a little unfair?" He asks almost to himself. I chuckle and nod my head, "You sound like you've already won, how about a little wager? If I win, I may gain freedom within the castle walls." I say, he studies me for a long moment never breaking my eyes. "If I win," he beams, "You will not ask to leave this room again." I gulp at that. He must think he already has this in the bag. Although I know I am playing at a huge disadvantage I should at least try. I mean if I lose, what have I really lost? Eventually he will have to let me out of this room right? I shake my head and he has the biggest smile I have ever seen. "I will not be going easy on you Kitty, I hate to break your heart so, but you will not be leaving this room. Not at least until I permit it." I meet his eyes and say a cockily as I can, "Oh Caspian, sweet Caspian, I will actually be stepping out of that door by dinner." And his smile widens even further. "I'd like to see that, sweets." By then the game is already set up and I make the first move by moving the pawn in front of my queen two spaces forward.     The game lasted a total of 30 minutes. He killed me. He left my queen for last besides the king and he said he did because he wanted to show my queen him ravishing all of her subjects. I thought that was bit morbid and rude. He looks at me smugly now and I see he wants to rub this one in my face good. I just turn my head to look at the empty wall. He begins, "Now about you leaving by dinner, I hate to say it beautiful, but that just won't be happening. In fact I don't think you can even talk about leaving anymore. Quite sad, don't you think?" I just look back at him with the angriest face I can muster. How did I get stuck here with this naracisstic lunatic? He's such an a**. I look over at him again and he's glowering, but he meets my eyes. I get up breaking the trance and go towards the desk. I begin to write down everything that I will be wanting for this stupid room. I begin, Sheer white curtains, Walls- Cream-colored, LOTS of hanging plants, replace all black colored furniture to wood, snake plants, eucalyptus plants, books about vampire kingdom, mirrors, paint, canvas, paint brushes, fireplace (lit always), etc... As he looks over the list and just smiles, "Love, you want to change everything about this place don't you?" I just roll my eyes, "Don't call me love and yes, it's cold, empty, lifeless, and sad. I need some life, some energy here." He just shakes his beautiful head and I see the black curls fall on his face. "Kitty, plants don't grow here. We don't get much sunlight so they won't survive. With the wood, we don't have much of, because well tress don't really grow here. But, we do have variations of such plants. Because, normal plants such as those don't grow here we have plants that survive to with little to no sunlight and trees that do as well. But, they are not the same colors as those back in the Human Kingdom." He almost chuckles at the last part. I pull myself together at the shock. What does he mean plants don't grow here? Why is there so little sunlight? What is wrong with this place? And why does he want me locked up here? Also where is that guy that I saw yesterday that came in? Why didn't Caspian bring me in himself if he didn't want me to meet anyone else? I quickly shake off all the questions that race through my mind, "Well, Caspian what color are all these things then?" He responds softly with with no emotion on his face, "Black."
