Chapter Four

Helley couldn't contain the excitement on her face even though her neck was still bleeding. The king's teeth must have sunk deep, leaving my tear-covered eyes to watch as she proceeded toward the golden bowl. "You son of a b***h" I yelled, dashing forward with my forefinger stretched toward him. I just didn't care. "You bastard!" The whole crowd turned at the brave little girl that had been betrayed. Nobody ever addressed him in such a manner. And I did it in public Helley hung the bowl halfway to her mouth, waiting for the final order that would make her the chosen mate. I pulled out one of the high heels beneath me. "You bastard!!" I yelled, aiming at him The first heel barely landed when I pulled out the second. Jenifer managed to restrain my arm but even her grip couldn't do the magic and I watched the golden bowl fall to the ground. I had missed my target but it still did some damage My weak nature suddenly became stronger when I turned and grabbed Jenifer by her throat. My fist tightened harder as I watched her beg for breath "Enough of this nonsense" The little crowd that had gathered in an attempt to break Jenifer from my grip gave way when the monster commanded. But I didn't care. Jenifer would have drawn her last breath but the beast that had betrayed me pulled away. I stumbled a few steps backward, falling into the crowd behind me and crashing a table of wine I got back on my feet in no one. Jenifer continued to pant. I knew I had turned into a b***h but who cares. "You lied to me, you are a betrayer." My hands were holding tight to his shirt as I dragged, shaking him back and forth. The little crowd had dispersed to take their respective seats, leaving the son of a b***h uncle of mine, who I believed to be the mastermind behind my broken heart, standing. I felt his strength when he grabbed my hands. My eyes felt a bit of relief seeing his shirt torn halfway from the top. But that meant nothing. The rich king could easily replace it with another. "Listen. Listen… listen…" he said as I continued to struggle. His hands are no longer allowed to touch me. My body got pulled back with the little strength left in me after his hands freed me slightly. Nobody would dare free the tight grip of his hands. Not even a werewolf king Look, I get it. I get…." he let out a sigh, as if looking for the right words to explain himself. Not that I needed the explanation. Whatever reason he decides to spill won't change anything. "Look, I get it that you feel betrayed…" he paused and turned to my uncle who returned the look. Was he waiting to get the right words from my uncle? He should better save it for another day. Being dead right now should have been better. I would be better off had I been swallowed by the ground beneath me. But the ground won't open even though my eyes are buried in it. I could not glance at the crowd anymore. Jenifer was right along. Am not fit to be his mate. I figured she must be smiling even though I hadn't seen her. My eyes were too deep in tears, which only increased as I muscled to look at the man who had called me his mate 24 hours earlier "Was it all a lie?" I needed to know what happened. There should be an explanation. It won't change anything but I felt I deserved some answers. I don't believe all we had was a lie. He told me I was his chosen mate the other night. Not just that night but every other. And I don't understand why he ditched me for someone he didn't know. "Am sorry you feel this w….." "Don't come near me" I snapped as he tried holding my hands. My nerves needed the touch even at this very moment. And that's when I knew I was in love with him, or so I thought "I told you," a whisper fell to my ears. I didn't have to turn for me to know who it was. I ignored her The son of a b***h uncle of mine did nothing but stand there. He must be enjoying watching his nephew create a scene A responsible uncle would have been ashamed but I didn't mind him. I carried on I wiped my cheeks again. I had lost count. My chest is now soaked, telling everyone that the girl has been ditched, and she is now crying for help. "Tell me the truth. Was it all a lie" "What do you want to hear Jenna?" The voice became louder this time. "Some sad excuse. We weren't meant for each other is all you need to know" He turned and glanced at the crowd. He didn't even realize he was on top of his voice the whole time. I guess he is as frustrated as myself. Something isn't right He turned in my direction, releasing a gentle sigh. The frustration became visible as I watched the blue eyes closer. Helley did well to complicate issues. I wanted to punch her face each time she rubbed his back. A sharp pain flowed down my spine when she murmured "he's mine" Nothing he had to say again. I felt I should apologize to the crowd for disrupting their little party No. The party was supposed to be mine. I needed an apology. With my heels gun, I would be able to run faster now. It's time to leave this f*****g place. My hands held the bottom of my gown high while my legs scurried away. I was just halfway on what appeared to be the longest run of my life when I heard "Thank you for keeping me company, and for warming my bed" I paused but I had no reason to turn yet. Thank God for the bottle I found. I didn't care if it was filled or not. Since I already knew where he stood, I wasted no time in sending the bottle flying toward him. It could as well meet my uncle. He deserves his fair share. Before its pieces touched down, I was long gone
